“Cozy place, good food”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 30, 2013 via mobile

Quite a cozy place but takes some effort to find it. The waitress couldn't care much when I was there but it was in the early morning and I was very happy to find a place that would actually serve up a decent dish. The atmosphere is really the big plus for this small and cozy place.

“Great little place to hang out”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 8, 2013

This is just a great little place, very snug and cosy. There is a guidebook we read about pancakes and we were not disappointed. Lovely, fresh and huge. Just what we needed on a cold day. And the guy who runs it (or at least works there) was really helpful and friendly and offered us some great tourist type tips and suggestions. Its over the road from the Culture Museum so a good stopping off point before going there. Altogether a very nice place

“Favorite place in Reykjavik, to do anything.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 3, 2013

This is my favorite place to do anything in Reykjavik. Once you actually locate this low key, garden level cafe / breakfast heaven, you will be greeted by a grey cat's smirk on the door (hence the name). If you don't fall in love when you enter, you need to leave immediately and find another place to eat. Thoughtfully lit red tables manage to form a sort of maze in this intimate room, with bookshelves covering most of the wall space, and eccentric art (naturally) making up most of the remainder. The service is sweet, and the windows looking onto the street manage to admit tons of light while still giving the sensation that you are hiding out in a bunker, with a delicious meal. I have to admit, as an avid lover of traditional breakfast fare, I have had the same meal every time I have gone: The Truck. Two eggs, bacon, a hulking piece of toast, three small pancakes, and potatoes are assembled to assault your hunger. The coffee was fine and fresh, but a double cappuccino packs more of a punch if you are plan to metabolize the entire plate. The price is pretty fair, around 2.300 kr for the whole shebang. Unlimited water also, as you've come to expect.

“Very Good Place for Breakfast”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 17, 2013

Menu wasn't extensive but was pretty varied. The quality of the food was very good and the prices were very reasonable.
