“Cool, funky hotel in great location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 16, 2013

We stayed at OK Hotel for two nights in a King Studio. The hotel is in a great location, right along the main street in downtown Reykjavik - we could walk to everything. The room had a really hip, funky decoration scheme, which was great. Our room had a kitchen and a full size fridge, which really came in handy given how expensive going out to eat was! We only interacted with one staff member (who checked us in at 1:30 am after an incredibly late night flight), and he was friendly and helpful. There was construction going on for a restaurant and bar on the first floor, but we didn't have any problems with noise or messiness.

We recently stayed at the Ok Hotel for 4 nights. It is ideally situated on the Main Street in Reykjavik, close to the tourist information, restaurants and supermarket.

The hotel is beautifully decorated in a bright and vintage style. The triple room (apartment) was very comfortable and had everything we needed. It is large and includes cooking facilities,we were able to cook and eat in when we wanted to. The shower room is clean and modern.

The staff were very friendly. It was informal and the self check in worked really well. If we needed anything we could phone from reception and staff could either help over the telephone or were happy to come out and see us if necessary. The staff were extremely helpful and all very friendly.

The bar area was due to open a couple of days after we left and it looked as if it would be a great area to relax with a great choice of food and drinks. We were given complimentary coffees because there was work ongoing which was a really nice gesture.

We asked to leave our bags as we had a late flight home and the hotel was happy to accommodate this and collected them and secured them so we could enjoy our last day exploring the city.

This was one of the best hotels I have had the pleasure of visiting and I would recommend it. I would certainly like to return. Iceland is a beautiful place and complimented by this great hotel and friendly staff.

The staff was gruff and inhospitable from the moment I arrived. I paid for two nights so that I could arrive early and sleep before departing very early the next morning. The common bar/restaurant area 10 meters from my room was under construction, with hammering, drilling, sawing going on the whole day while I was trying to sleep. None of the advertised "amenities" except wifi were available. I should have been informed of the construction in advance so that I could have stayed at a different hotel. I received no "welcome" upon arrival (just a phone call telling me the safe combo to retrieve my key). No one showed me how to operate anything in the room or even bothered to check on me at any point during my stay. Far from being made to feel like a guest, I was made to feel that I was a bothersome intruder imposing on their construction project. It was a terrible experience. I would never consider staying at this place again.

We stayed in OK Hotel at the end of September and had the time of our life! This nicely decorated hotel (including lobby and bar) is simply a dream stay for the low price you pay. The owner welcomed us when we arrived and the staff member (reached by lobby phone) booked tours for us and was a great assistance.

OK Hotel is a warm, cosy, quirky, perfect place for us! See u next year!

Room Tip: We stayed on frontside and had sea view

Stayed there 2 nights with my boyfriend over the weekend, we both loved it! When we checked in we had no problems with the self check-in procedure, there were staff around to help, but it was very simple, If anything it was more hassle free and quicker way to check in than any other hotel I have been to .

The Hotel is situated right on the main shopping street and minutes walk from everything! Which was great for us as we didn’t fancy taking transport to get to the center.

The first thing that hit us when we walked in was the lobby, it was very interestingly designed and gave a great first impression. The room was fantastic! Very quirky and cool design here, this is not your standard BORING hotel room. There was a kitchen area that had completely everything we needed which was great for us as we were on a budget.

All in all we had a great little weekend getaway and would recommend this place for others if your looking for someplace in the heart of Reykjavik with a fun vibe and interesting, unique design.

Stayed in OK Hotel beginning of October and it was simply perfect. Interior in retro style and the lobby area in a unique design.

The price quality balance is unbelievable, will definitely come back to this place. There is a self check-in system, we called it a James Bond way of checking in, worked out really efficient. Next to that the staff was really helpful and always reachable by phone.

When you ever visit Reykjavik book OK Hotel. Brilliant concept that feels like home!

Iceland was new to us - we were on an adventurous stop over en route to Canada. I found the OK Hotel online and booked after much humming and hawing, trying to decide between a 'proper hotel' and an apartment hotel like the OK.

We were so glad we we did The large room slept us all together and the mini kitchen meant we could resort to much needed beans-on-toast etc for children too tired to last in a restaurant.

The location was perfect, a great place from which to venture out and explore the city. We whale watched, we swam in the pools, we checked out the local landscape. It was a gorgeous trip and the OK Hotel made it achievable for exhausted little people.

The staff were superb, meeting us on arrival and showing us the ropes. The hotel was impeccably clean. And it was quiet: we had a front room one floor above the main street (weekend in August) and we weren't at all disturbed at any point.

Highly recommend.
