“Quirky & Comfortable”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 16, 2013

This is a really good hotel on one of the main shopping/nightlife streets although at the non busy end. We could walk to the bars we tended to drink at within 10 minutes and to the harbour in 20.

The rooms are strangely decorated but we liked the unusual decor and although small, they are well set out with everything you need.

The bed was super comfortable and as we had a back room, we found it vey quiet at night. There is also free wifi which was slow and sometimes fazed out but fine to quickly check emails etc. The back rooms on floor 2 open out onto a roof terrace. The room was very clean. Only problem was our room was missing the overhead lamp and had just the wires hanging but am sure this was just a temporary issue (and we had several lamps etc)

The check-in is a bit strange, you ring the bell to be buzzed in, then they call you with the safe no so you can get your key and you don't meet anyone but we were in our room within 5 minutes so it works.

I would definitely stay here again or recommend it to a friend.

Room Tip: back rooms will be quieter

5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 31, 2013

We stayed at OK hotel for 5 nights at the end of January and it was easily the best choice we have made in terms of hotels. The apartments are situated on the main shopping street of Laugavegur in the centre of Reykjavik. There is a supermarket across the road, various cafes and restaurants all across the street and the tourist information office is about a 10 minutes walk away. The hotel isn't very visible from the street but it's just a couple of metres from Cafe Coco (very friendly owner), but you can see a lobby area where you can safely store your luggage if you arrive before check in. The apartments themselves are beautiful, they are all unique and decorated to a high standard. Ours had a small but fully equipped kitchen with a stove, kettle, microwave, fridge, every piece of cutlery you could ever need and a bathroom with a powerful shower and plenty of towels and toilet paper. I wasn't expecting them to change the towels during our 5 night stay but they changed them twice for us whilst we were out which was a pleasant surprise. We loved the HD TV too with it's choice of UK channels and games, very good for the dark mornings when we didn't want to venture out too early! The only thing I would change would be the bed as although very comfortable and warm, we had two single beds put together which meant I kept falling down the gap. The staff are only a phone call away and are very friendly. Also, if you are renting a car like we were then although the apartment doesn't have it's own parking, there is a closed safe multiple story parking lot 30 seconds down Laugavegur where we paid 560kr (so cheap!!) for around 9 hours parking.

Overall excellent apartment, excellent value for money and would definitely stay again if ever in Reykjavik!

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a double bed if you don't want two singles

Stayed here at the end of January 2013 with my boyfriend for our final night in Reykjavik. I only wish we had stayed here for longer instead of Apartment K.

The hotel is a little difficult to find as it's not clearly identified but don't let that put you off as it's a very well run affair. We arrived a little before check in (which is at 3pm as is most places in Iceland seemingly) and were let in straight away as our room was ready. We'd also been able to store our luggage safely since 11am too.

We phoned the reception man who was very helpful and explained the procedure clearly - you get a code off him for a safe where your room key and details are kept in an envelope. It's all quite bizarre but works very well.

We were in room 3 which was covered in pictures of the Mona Lisa, which is not the most conventional thing, but we appreciated the quirkiness.

The room was enormous! Had a huge superkingsize bed with Ikea bedding, plenty of pillows and was very comfortable. We really appreciated the LCD TV on the wall opposite the bed.

The kitchenette was the largest we'd had in any of the hotels we stayed in in Iceland and had all necessities: toaster, kettle, oven, microwave, sink, crockery and cutlery, washing up liquid etc etc. It was also stocked with sugar, teabags and coffee, which was a nice touch.

There were two large chairs and a small desk allowing ample room to unpack and chill. There was also a large wardrobe with ironing board and iron.

The bathroom was fab - excellent power shower, plenty of towels, toilet paper etc.

We also had a large balcony which was particularly useful in the evening to sit and chill with a glass of wine.

Great location, great staff, great price. Definitely recommended!

Ok hotel is so close to the city center. If you wanna visit Reykjavik church,it will take you 10 minutes.Tourist information and supermaket are just nearby. There is no receptionist in the lobby. It is called self check-in.When you wanna get your room key, firstly you should press the button near the door to call them.Afterwards, staff will open the door and get the key from safe box for you.The room is very big with king size bed.It is equipped very well.Coffee maker, microwave oven and fridgement. The bathroom is clean.I stayed in OK hotel for 6 days.It was 314 euros in total.Good price. When you leave for the airport, just leave the key on the table in the room and lock the door. That is it.

Room Tip: If you choose the room which faces the street,it will be a little bit noisy.

We were in Reykjavik mainly for the Northern Lights but also wanted somewhere quite central so we could enjoy the nightlife without having to use taxis. This apartment was perfect, Small but perfectly formed! It's a little weird to not have a reception staff there but they were just at the end of the phone and very helpful. We had room 10 which was perfect for what we needed - perhaps someone tidier might need more hanging space (take your own hangers - we had 5 between 2 of us) but we managed.
The location is excellent - just a few minutes walk from the bars and restaurants

Room Tip: Room 10 was excellent

Stayed here for my last night in Reykjavik and was looking for a cheap place to stay. Arrived at the door and realized how it was possible these guys were able to make a profit. First off, this review isn't meant to be negatively skewed, just my curiousity at their business model.

The hotel is run completely off-site, meaning there is no receptionist but rather a phone that you dial where someone will pick up on the other end and help you with any concerns. There is a safe with all the keys of whoever is checking in on the current day and you find your way to the room yourself. Everything is meant to be self-sufficient.

The living space is quite nice and is decorated with a minimalist hand--ie straight lines, clean surfaces, no frou frou. They provide you with a kitchen and adequate space to live in. I was in the room for 3 (1 king, 1 sofabed) and found the room decently large.

Check in was to be exactly at 3pm and they were strict about this. You can opt to leave any luggage you have in the lobby, which can be a little unnerving considering there is no one to keep an eye on it.

Just spent a long weekend in Reykjavik, and this apartment really made it the perfect weekend!
The apartment is well equipped with everything needed to cook your own meals, but is also perfectly located for easy access to the best shopping streets and restaurants in town.
The apartment is beautifully and tastefully decorated, and was very clean. The staff in the hotel are also friendly and helpful.
It is also not far from the tourist office to book any trips or excusions.
Also excellent value for money - couldn't believe the deal we got through booking.com.
Fantastic! Thank you!
