As the other reviewers have said this hotel is all its cracked up to be. Very nice rooms and very nice helpful staff.

Breakfast was the norm of ceral and toast etc., and it was good that we could fill up and then skip lunch as eating out was so expensive! Burger and chips = £10 so you have been warned although eveything is dear in Iceland inc. the day trips.

Our room overlooked the bay although the weather was horrible all week and it was rare that we could actually see the mountains! The room was also above the karate dojo which went from about 6 - 8pm but it shouldn't and didn't effect your enjoyment of the hotel.

The hotel does have the Internet but there always seemed to be someone on it which was a shame.

My only gripe was the TV selection. The only English channel was Sky World which went on a constant repeat so it would be nice if this was improved.

To sum up the hotel is certainly near a 4 star and the price was good also when you include breakfast into the equation. Make sure you bring A LOT of money for everything else though!!!!!

  • Liked — Breakfast Included, Friendly Staff & Clean Room
  • Disliked — Access To Only One English TV Channel i.e. Sky World On A Constant Repeat

This was our first trip to Iceland, which was amazing. The Hotel Bjork, is just out of the centre of town about a 15 minute walk from the harbour and center of town but the walk is down the main shopping street so there is plenty to see

Rooms were adequate equipped (tea making facilities), clean, warm, with opening windows. Views were okay as you can see the bay but bit obscured by local buildings (we were on third floor). The restuarant facilities provided good wholesome food - home made breads - excellent. Very reasonably priced by Icelandic standards (especially at lunch time).

Great thing about this hotel was the customer service, staff on the front desk were amazing very helpful with sorting out trips, local information, taxis etc. When I go back to Iceland I will certainly stay here again.

  • Liked — customer service
  • Disliked — Initially we had a room which had been used by smokers but this was changed straight away

We stayed 4 nights and found the staff to be very helpful and our room had a great view of the bay -we used the airport bus and then had a car which was delivered to the hotel -this was the best value car hire that we could find in Iceland (Sixt)
We had 2 meals in the hotel(one good and one adequate) as after long days out it was pleasant to be able to eat without looking around and they were as reasonable as eating in the city
The hotel was not too far to walk into the centre and the free car parking was a bonus -all in all this was a value for money hotel in an expensive city

We stayed at the Hotel Bjork for two nights in August. We are a family of five and used two rooms. The rooms were not spacious, but were clean and efficient. The best parts of the hotel are the easy and free parking and the restaurant adjacent to the hotel. Also the free internet was a winner with the kids. The hotel is not centrally located, but it took less than fifteen minutes to walk down the main shopping street to the old city center. The staff was excellent, and did their best to provide useful information. Finally, considering the high price of everything in Iceland, this was a very good value. I would definitely recommend this hotel. Matt H., Phila., PA

We stayed in Hotel Bjork two nights at the end of our amazing trip (twelve days long) in Iceland.
It was indeed the bitter "dessert" of the sweet vacation!

Location: Hotel Bjork is located in the heart of the small industrial zone, right opposite Mercedes' garage and some storage houses. It situated about half an hour of the energizing walking from the downtown, the center of the city of Reykjavik.

Rooms: instead of the triple, which we booked, we got double room with extra bed which could be suitable for teenager (quite problematic for staying of three adults).
The main lamp was burned, the shower's holder was broken and the TV didn't work at all. Besides, the DRAINAGE of the shower was impassable.

During the night hours, buses stopped from time to time just under windows producing terrible engines' noise and strong smell of the gasoline's gases.

The water pressure in the shower was low; the hot water was in short supply, frequently stopped at sprinkling cold "fresh" shower from time to time - to recall that we are in Iceland.

Lobby: it was strong constant smell of the lobsters' soup.

Breakfast: "SCIMPINESS" would be the most proper word to characterize the breakfast in general. Everything was in short supply: orange juice, yogurt, pans - even spoons and the simplest bread. Everything was subject of a good will of two employees, which were simply unable to serve so many people which come to the breakfast.

We really wondered – how it is possible that Hotel Bjork Reykjavik is 3 stars? How it is ranked on the top of TripAdvisor's Reykjavik hotels list?
