“Well placed neat stop over hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 26, 2014

Stayed here five nights.
Staff couldn't have been more helpful. Breakfast reasonable choice. Cleanliness good. Close to shops and Streato bus station. No complaints here. For a basic hotel to sleep and shower in this was good.

I looked at many of these reviews when choosing our hotel and I have to say I was not disappointed with our choice. I didn't upgrade but our room was huge with a separate living space to the bedroom and sea views. Maybe we were just lucky but the baron didn't disappoint in any other areas either. staff were great, breakfast was a wide range if food buffet style ( im vege n often only get bread and cheese when abroad so this was a nice suprise). On the day we left they booked the fly bus, gave us a 4.30 wake up call and early breakfast. The location on the waterfront meant the shopping streets, restaurants and harbour were all only a very short walk away. We booked multiple excursions in advance and all tour operators picked up straight from the door as the hotel was so easy to access (this seemed mostly the case for hotels in Reykjavik but not always). Don't misunderstand this hotel was not 5* plush 'wow' factor but it was everything the average traveller wants to feel happy with their stay.

This place is overrated on here. We arrived at 12.30am and our first room was very poor. Bubbly ground sheet needing replacing, stains on bed, hairs on bed and TV not working, cold when we entered- all very disappointing. We went and complained and got moved to a ground floor studio. Again very average but couldn't be bothered to complain a second time. Very tired furniture. Breakfast was ok, staff not friendly or chatty in the slightest. We did significant research on hotels in Reykjavik and now with hindsight the reviews we read are not consistent with our experience. Will not be visiting again. 2 out of 5

This hotel serves its purpose quite adequately for the most part. Because of the high volume and constant checking in and out of large numbers of people, do not expect even the smallest amount of personal, friendly attention. And if you arrive in Reykjavik early morning after a long international flight hoping to get some sleep in this hotel right away, think again. Check in is 4pm. Check out is 12noon. The staff is insistent to the point of rudeness in this matter. Maybe you can find a chair in the tiny, always crowded and loud lobby to take a nap in.
The rooms in the old section of the hotel are small, but clean and comfortable and quiet.
Breakfast is good and abundant, but again zero personal, friendly attention.

Small and run-down bath room, staff not really enthusiastic. Room was missed to be locked twice by maids, safe broken, once the room was just not cleaned - their excuse: We thought you like it like that! Lady at front desk was busy playing pc games while I was standing there, waiting for her to give me my key. I am traveling a lot through various countries. This is not a 3 star hotel. This is rather a two star place to stay.

Room Tip: don't try to get a sea-view room. Rush hour in the morning on the coast line. Cars drive by with...

Myself and some friends stayed here for 4 nights. The rooms were somewhat small but perfectly adequate, with nice comfy beds and soft squishy pillows! All staff were welcoming and very helpful when we needed to ask them for information. The breakfast was good. There was lots to choose from with fruit, various breads and pastries, biscuits, cheeses, meats and cereal. The location was very good and the hotel is situated about two minute's walk away from one of the main shopping streets in Reykjavik.

I stayed here 5 nights. This is a budget hotel. I was a little skeptical of booking here, but was very happy that I did. Rooms, bathrooms are clean. The front desk staff are very accommodating. The hotel is located just two blocks from the main shopping street in tho old town, and within walking distance of the major restaurants and things to see. The hotel offers a nice buffet complimentary breakfast.

I would stay here again.
