Superb hotel, located at the old harbour, and very close to all the amenities of the city centre. We were given a free upgrade to a superior room, and it was excellent. The opaque glass shower room took a bit of getting used to though! The beds were super comfortable, warm and cosy, and the view of the mountains was perfect. Nice and quiet even though we stayed over a very busy (and noisy) weekend. The breakfast was plentiful and delicious and set us up for the day. The potato/bacon/mushroom mix was especially tasty. The staff were very helpful, friendly and every one of them spoke exceptional English. This is a very popular hotel with the locals, and the glamorous, trendy young things congregate after work on a Friday evening. Book a table for dinner or you won't stand a chance of getting one. The bar staff are kept very busy, but still have time for the tourists. The cocktail list is intriguing though!
I would totally recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Reykjavik...we saw a couple of the other hotels when we were being dropped off from some of the bus tours we took, and the Marina was SO much nicer than some and so conveniently situated. Could do with tea/coffee making facilities in the room, although there was a machine in the lobby, and you could take the coffee to your room.
Full marks to the staff and management and thanks for making our trip so perfect.
