“A Bird's Eye View of Reykjavik”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 24, 2013

A marvellous 360 degree view of the Icelandic capital. We visited when it was blowing a gale but it was sunny & I was able to take some photos. Would recommend a visit to this attraction.

“Get your bearings”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 23, 2013

The Pearl is a good place to get your bearings in Reykjavik and to get an idea of the scale of the Icelandic capital. A dome sits atop five huge water tanks used to for the city's hot water supply. One of the water tanks is currently empty and houses the Saga Museum. There is an expensive souvenir shop on the ground floor, a manmade geyser outside the washrooms on the lower floor and on the upper levels a reasonably priced cafeteria and Reykjavik's finest (revolving) restaurant. A set four course menu will set you back around $120, so it's not cheap, but the views are beautiful.

“Beautiful view”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 23, 2013

We had luck and we were there at a day with good weather, and even it was relatively warm.
So we could enjoy the beautiful view, and have a look over Reykjavik and the coastline.
We had some lunch there, and a real nice and quiet time.

If you are in Reykjavik, and you need some view and relaxation, it´s a good place.

“Interesting”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 22, 2013

Perlan sits on top of the hot water tanks that serve Reykjavik. It is a fair walk from central Reykjavik or catch the number 18 bus. The Hop On/Hop Off bus also stops there. Inside is a small Cultural Museum which is not much, a couple of tourist shops and a faux fountain/geyser that goes off every 5 minutes or so. There is a cafe on the upper floor which serves moderately priced food (for Reykjavik). At the top, there is a revolving restaurant which is open at night. The viewing platform is around the top of the tanks. The views of the surrounding area is quite good (especially on a warm sunny day), but the biggest view is of the local domestic airport. For a better view of Reykjavik, the cathedran in town is a better option.

“Average attraction”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 22, 2013

This is the sort of place that you can visit for a short period of time before getting bored. It seemed overcrowded and besides the viewing gallery and a restaurant, there wasn't a lot to do.
