“Interesting architecture inside and out”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 17, 2013

You'll know where you are in Reykjavik just based on whether you can see this church or not. It's definitely a landmark. The outside is really cool - and huge! The organ inside is a site to see.
The best part, though is going to the top and looking out. It's cold and windy at the very, very top (which is to be expected, really, considering how high up you are). You can look out on all sides of the tower and can see pretty far on a clear sunny day. It's really fun to be up in the tower when the bells ring!

“Church with a difference”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 11, 2013

We were staying opposite the Hallgrimur and I never got tired of looking at it. Early evening is the best time to take photo's as they Illuminate the spire and it looks like delicate lace. The organ is played at midday and you can purchase home made soup after not too sure about the summer months.
You can also purchase a ticket to go up the tower either by lift or on foot. We thought this was well worth the money especially if you are into photography- you also have the option of going onto the final level but only using the stairs.
As you are looking at the front of the church over to your right is a small walled open air sculpture park worth giving it a look nothing phenomenal but of interest . doesn't take long to walk around. If you didn't have the soup and a little hungry directly opposite the front of the church on a corner is a restaurant that specialises in Icelandic food and is a good lunch stop...sorry the name has slipped my memory but the meat soup hasn't.

“Nothing special”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 10, 2013

A very modern looking Lutheran church at the highest point of Reykjavik city centre. Didn't go in, just took some photo from the outside. Kinda like a landmark, a 'been there, done that' sort of tourist spot (not even very touristy)

“Windy at the Top”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 10, 2013

Definitely worth a visit - the church as a modern feel to it, and whilst not ornate with stained glass in the traditional fashion, the super curves & roof make it spectatular. For a marvellos view, pay the extra to go up the tower. Be warned it can be extremely windy, as it was for us, the cold wintery wind whistled through the tower, but all the same - Do it !
