“Wonderful surprise”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 6, 2013

We had a stopover in Reykjavik, and needed something to eat. We had a bad day, and considered just buying junk food. We're so glad we didn't! Although we were dressed rather shabbily we were warly welcomed, and the staff was very attentive. From the start, with the delicious bread, butter and lava salt, our meal was such a feast! We had the sampler menu, and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The cocktails were excellent as well! We were going for a two week vacation in the US, and this was the best meal we had on our trip! Thank you for making our day!

“an experience that peaked upon entry”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 1, 2013

The restaurant is hopping & surprisingly stylish like you would find in a large metro area somewhere else in the world but it was all downhill from there. The service was below par as we struggled to keep a cold drink in front of us all night. The food was nothing special. Originally I thought that opinion may be a result of me trying to be too ambitious but now that I am writing out the experience for the first time, I'm realizing that this place is as overrated and overpriced as some mentioned.

The slider trio was dry and salty. I had whale and puffin at another restaurant and loved it so maybe the disappointment was a product of the presentation. The pork ribs were good but nothing you couldn't get at a million other restaurants. The horse tenderloin was pretty flavorless and my wife didn't think the beef skewers were anything special to write home about.

Although the ambiance is great and this was far from the worst experience I've had at a restaurant, I'd suggest giving other restaurants a shot at a better value for your krona. I regret not trying a more authentic, local place without the flair of a trendy spot like this that I can eat at just about anywhere.

“Overrated, go somewhere else and spend your money.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 28, 2013 via mobile

Top ranked in Iceland and we don't know why. Over-priced for the meh quality we received. ($110). Husband thought he'd knock off some Icelandic "musts" by ordering the puffin, minke whale and lobster mini burgers. Not only were they all cold, but the puffin was dry like jerky and the meat portions way smaller than the buns. We ordered grilled corn on the cob which was also cold. The accompanying butter wouldn't even melt on the corn it was so cold. We should have known when all 5 plates we ordered were served in less than 15 mins. What WAS good: the pork ribs w/ BBQ sauce (large portion), monkfish skewer (husband liked, but too fishy for me) and the steak skewer (tender and flavorful). Would not go back or recommend.

“Best meal in Reykjavic”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 26, 2013

This was the restaurant we chose to dine at for our last supper so to speak, in Iceland. We made a last minute (day of) reservation which was miraculously granted. However 22:30 was a bit late for us so we showed early and they were able to seat us at the sushi style bar.

The atmosphere is sexy cool, service was great considering the full house, and everything we ordered, as well as that which was delivered past us looked 5 star.

I would highly recommend this restaurant. If you want a table, book days in advance.
