“Modern Apartments in great location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 12, 2013

My friend and I stayed in the apartments located 3 blocks away thurs 7th - sun 10th Nov.
Good value for money, great location and very modern and clean although you could tell where perhaps previous guests hadn't looked after the place so well I.e ring marks on the kitchen work tops etc. There was also a strong musty smell of smoke as soon as you open the door. I myself am a smoker (i go outside) but even i found it hard to find any clean air to breathe! I would highly recommend the hotel forbids guests from smoking in these apartments.
You have to check in at the hotel which is absolutely fine but there was no help down to the apartments with our luggage or even just to show us to the building. We also were not made aware that we could have breakfast at the hotel if we liked until we decided ourselves we may try to see if we could. Something which would have come in handy to know especially walking around in the cold early when not a lot of places open till later.
The apartments are close to a bar which got very loud at times. Not ideal after a tiring day of adventuring and sight seeing.
This review does sound more negative than anything but I do have to say we did love our stay (and we weren't on holiday to spend all our time in there anyway) the above few points are just a couple of things to consider. I still would stay here again, maybe just in a less noisy / smoke smelling apartment.

We arrived in Iceland on the early morning flight from Dulles, and spent our first night at the Odinsve. Even though we were unable to check in early due to a full house the night before, the hotel was very accommodating in storing our bags, and we were able to have breakfast as soon as we arrived. The location of the Odinsve is excellent for walking to many of the most visited sites in Reykjavik, but off the main thoroughfare that can be noisy on weekends. The rooms are not huge, but certainly adequate and quite comfortable. We would have returned to the Odinsve for our final night in Reykjavik, but they were fully booked. Highly recommend this hotel!

Room Tip: Some rooms have a bathtub, while others have only a shower.

We rented an apartment through the Hotel Odinsve. The apartment building is located three blocks from the the hotel (200-300 meters). We checked in at the hotel and had to wait until the apartment was cleaned. Getting our bags to the apartment was a challenge--the hotel does not have a bellman nor does it have a luggage cart. You are on your own. Since we had been traveling for almost 3 weeks we had a bit of luggage. No offer of help from the hotel desk staff. When we got to the apartment we had to carry the luggage to the second floor. Once we got into the apartment we were quite pleased with the size and furnishings. The location is near the intersection of the two main shopping streets in Reykjavik. One odd feature--the only cable news station in English was CCTV. We got lots of news about China, Asia and Africa but almost nothing about Europe and the US.

Rooms quiet small but have all the facilities needed. Good central location and optional breakfast in bar area is well worth the money although could be had cheaper outside. Staff vert friendly, would recommend as a 3star hotel

Room Tip: Choose 3rd floor and above

Never had a so small and really, really old room like this. It looks like they never invest any ISK for anything. Walking distance within the central. The night receptionist was really very friendly, the bar was crowded and very noisy - fortunately for other hotelguests the operation is set at 01.00.

We selected this hotel based on location and price and were happy with our selection. Well placed to walk to all tourist locations, two minutes to the Hallgrimskirkja church, two minutes to the main street, five minutes to the sun voyager and Harpa and ten minutes to the harbour. The hotel is currently undergoing a refurbishment and the updated rooms are well appointed. I recommend you ask if you are being allocated a newly refurbished or old room. The receptionists were all extremely helpful and welcoming with nothing being a problem for them. Good bar and bistro area and extremely well priced. Overall well placed and priced with excellent service provided by all staff

Room Tip: Ask if your room has been refurbished

Located at a quite street. Walking distance within the central area. However, the big coach (for your day trip) will not be able to stop outside your hotel, due to the road. Often, you will have to be picked up by transfer van or you will be dropped off near the church to walk back.

There is some renovation going on for the building facade. Not a problem for me since I'm out in the day. Bathroom was a little small though.
