“Clean, cozy, and comfortable”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 18, 2011

We enjoyed our four night stay at the Natura. The staff was friendly, and the room (although small) was very comfortable. The folks at the tour desk were especially helpful, and called us when our whale-watching trip was cancelled because of bad weather. The food in the restaurant is excellent, but it's pricey. The breakfast buffet was about $16 each; it included everything you could think of and was very tasty, but that's a lot to spend for breakfast. We decided early on that we'd make that our main meal of the day, and it worked out well. Dinner was expensive as well, but we limited ourselves to one fancy dinner (the best Arctic char I've ever eaten) during our stay and made do with sandwiches and other goodies that we picked up in local shops. In all fairness, food seemed to be a big ticket item in many places in Reykjavik (including the supermarkets), so I don't think it was just the Natura.

The shuttle bus was very helpful . . . we walked to the city center one day, but on the last day we took the bus and it was very convenient. It's a bit of a hike to the city center, but there are great paths and the hotel staff gave good directions, so it's a safe and pleasant walk as long as it isn't raining. All in all, we had a great stay in Iceland, and look forward to going back some day.

Room Tip: Rooms overlooking the municipal airport also have great views of the sea.

We enjoyed our 4 nite stay as part of an Icelandair pkg. Our room overlooked the airport and we found the room to be very soundproof. Free I-net service was provided. TV very basic. Beds comfortable. Small functional shower. Lovely pool. Restaurant was so so. Very small servings and expensive, as all restaurants seemed to be. We found the restaurant Nautholl, at the end of the runway overlooking the thermal beach to be quite good. 5 minute walk.
The hotel was well served by the tour bus companies. We found the SAD car rental city office to be across the highway from the hotel. 5 min. walk. Rented a car for 2 days. The hotel was in a good location for day trips out of the city.
We would stay there again.

Clean and comfortable basic hotel accommodations. We got a double bed on request at check-in, though standard seems to be 2 singles. If you want to avoid the domestic airport noise you might wish to ask for a room on the front, though in summer it may be a little party- noisier. 25 min walk to downtown Reykjavik and there is a free shuttle though not quite frequent enough at least in October. The breakfast provides good variety, though pretty much the same day to day, and is a generous start which was very welcome as restaurant prices in the country are high. We would stay there again, though not for a week, as the next trip to Iceland will be farther afield of the big city.
BTW the countryside we did see was very very awesome. Well worth the visit!

The Icelandair Hotel Natura was a clean, modern hotel owned by Icelandairlines. Directly behind the hotel is a small local airport. Our room faced the airport and sound was not an issue at all. Across the street from the hotel there are hiking trails leading up to a lovely view over the city. Reykjavik is very much a walking city. I ventured to a local convenience store for snacks. Locating an ATM was a bit of a challenge - I ended up using one in the tour bus depot located next to the store. The hotel does have a shuttle that runs several times a day. We took the shuttle into town, but ended up walking back. it was only a little over 1 mile I would guess.. I never made it to the spa, but it was supossedly nice. They have an onsite tour booking agent whcih is quite convenient. one of our tours was cancelled due to rain and the company phoned the booking agent to let us know.. I would stay at this hotel again. And visit Iceland again. A 4 hour flight from NYC is quite an easy trip.

My wife and I stayed a week here. Our first room was like a sana and the heat could not be regulated. When the front desk saw the problem they upgraded us to a larger room, no problem. The next room had a window problem and noise was coming in form the airport that is right outside the hotel. Again they upgraded us to a suit, no problem. It was nice to see that no matter who was on the front desk, they could give us a better room without having to go to management for approval. The indoor pool area is very nice, with as average size pool, large hot tub, sana(not room 348), and steam room. The breakfast was expensive (of course what isn't in Iceland?) but plentiful. The hotel location is close to town (Reykjvik) but you need a car or cab to get to the mail shopping district. The hotel has a tour desk so you can book tours right there and all pick ups for tours are at the hotel which is nice. The hotel has a restaurant, but no others close enough to walk to. Many restaurants in the downtown area. Give "Indian Mango" a try. Our favorite.

This hotel was very quiet and modern. The rooms are small but very chic. It faces the local airport but I did not hear the planes leaving. My room only had a shower but it was very spacious with plenty of HOT water. The site says that you have to pay for Internet but it was free. The duvet was very cuddly and the pillows were comfortable. They supply coffee and tea with a kettle in your room. There was also a mini fridge that I used for cream that I bought for my coffee. I did not find a safety deposit box as mentioned in other reviews but did not feel it was needed as the staff and Icelandic people are to be trusted, so I was told. The restaurant SATT was good and the buffet breakfasts were plentiful and offered a lot of choice. Iceland itself is a wonderful country that should be visited by everyone. The people are very friendly and the surrounding areas are very historic and informative. The Geysir and Gulfross waterfalls are sights not to be missed as well as spending 1/2 day at the Blue Lagoon. This was not a destination I had ever imagined visiting but I am very glad that I did and would not hesitate to return again.

Stayed here for 4 nights with a package deal from Seattle. Was a 20 min walk from town, which we did often. however, the hotel has a shuttle that runs back and forth at certain times, which is free. Our room had 2 single beds with down duvets.

Pros: Shower had tons of hot water and good water pressure. clean, comfortable, good prices on wine/beer at happy hour daily. Gal at tour desk very helpful, and checked us in for our return flights home.

Cons: our room overlooked a small airport runway. Cannot hear the planes unless window open, but we like the window open. It would not keep us from staying there, but just an FYI. The otherside of the hotel is not on the runway. Overpriced breakfast. The weekend had good waffles, but during the week, was overpriced with luke warm coffee. The coffee at the coffee bar was good and they had a few pasteries to buy. Have to bring your room towel to the spa/pool downstairs. Costs about 4 USD to rent one if you don't.

Would stay here again

Room Tip: Ask for room on front of hotel to avoid runway
