We stayed here three nights in September and were quite satisfied. There were many positive things: our flight arrived very early and we arrived at the hotel early in the morning. The lady at reception was very understanding and let us have our room immediately, for which we are still grateful. We also had taken advantage of a promotional price, so this was one of the least expensive hotels on our entire trip to Iceland and France. A large buffet breakfast is included in the price, with hot and cold dishes. There is ample parking. A cooler in the room accomodated our duty-free wine, and wine glasses were available in the hallway (also ice and drinking glases). The hotel caters to tours so it was always busy, but the staff at reception was always available and helpful. I noticed that some tripadvisor reviewers were expecting a four star hotel. It is not. Based on the hotel ratings we encountered in France, I would rate it as a good two star hotel, with a lot of extras included. We were very happy staying here and would stay again. I recommend it to anyone except those who want luxury or charm.

Heading to Boston for a tour of New England we stayed at Hotel Loftleidir as part of Icelandair's free two day stopover whch turned out to be the highlight of the whole trip.

The Flybus from Keflavik Airport goes direct to the hotel and for ISK1,200 was good value.

The hotel exterior looks very much like an office block but inside the reception area is well laid out, the staff were very helpful and the the view from the balcony as we left the lift was over the domestic airport to the Atlantic Ocean. Our room was clean and comfortable with good views over the city to the cloud-shrouded escarpment beyond and the beds were very comfortable.

Breakfast was very busy but there was enough space for eveyone and there was a wide choice of hot and cold dishs. We used the free shuttle bus to the city centre once but decided on all other occasions to walk to and fro, which took about 20 minutes.

We booked the 'Golden Circle' day tour through Reykjavik Excursions and were collected and dropped-off at the hotel. This excursion was the best day of our entire holiday as the sky was clear we saw beautiful waterfalls, geysirs and the wonderful world heritage site at Thingvellir.

Another fine experience was the return trip to Keflavik as we took advantage of the early departure which inclded a three hour stop at the Blue Lagoon. Although the air temperature was no more than 2/3c the water was a very pleasant 38c. A very relaxing way to prepare for our flight to Boston.

We wll certainly stay here again if we ever cross the Atlantic again.

Quite a good hotel, athough situated at the domestic airport noise was not a problem. Great for our internal flight, just a matter of yards.

As it rained most of the time we did'nt walk into town, but used taxis, allow about £10 each way. The hotel bus times were not very convenient. The restaurant was good, but not cheap. Breakfast was excellent, plenty of hot and cold food served as a buffett.

A nice pool is available for guests.
Staff at reception were more than helpful with day trips etc'
A good location for car hire.

Can't think of downsides, although the restaurant was not cheap, but this is what you should expect in Iceland

Stayed here overnight as we were flying to Akureyri the next day.Overlooks Perland which is a must see mentioned in all guide books This building has a viewing platform and a restaurant, it is a hot water storage tank really. This is only a 5mins walk from the hotel.
Lofteider is a 15 mins from centre of Reykjsvik or a bit longer if waking alongside the lake. There is a free shuttle bus into town. Our room overlooked the runaway but after 11 o' clock no planes used the airport. It is a basic functional hotel we stayed in Room 240 which overlooked the runway. Excellent buffet breakfast.. fruit, cold meats, delicious cakes, cereals, breads.
In the rooms there is enough hanging space, desk, cupboard, tea and coffee facilities, hairdryer and TV. because of the time of the year the room is not very dark at night so take an eye mask. Very clean hotel. Highly recommened by us.
In the hotel all were very friendly and helpful staff. A free map of the area is given to guests. The airport is a 10 mins taxi drive.

I spent a week at the hotel a week before going back to college in the USA. I booked my hotel through South Travel and paid $1,210.00 for one week' stay in a single room with breakfast. I was pretty disappointed that I was I had to pay so much for one week's stay in a hotel. Upon arrival, I came to the front desk and was helped by a very professional, well-kept, handsome young man - whom I believe did a very good job accommodating me an English speaker.

Although it was not checkin time, I was able to get a room after a very lone exhausting day traveling from the Caribbean to Iceland. It was nice to get into my room early to take a shower. I was initially taken aback when I saw the size of the room - I was like, "I paid all that money for THIS!" However, after coming to the realizing the European as very conservative, I understood why the beds were small and the room was the fraction of a typical hotel room in the Caribbean (that I have stayed at).

Despite the size, I was pleased with the cleanliness of the room and the hotel in general. To move things along, the location was one of great importance to me. I had a rental that made my day trip using the hotel provided brochures very exciting and exhilaratingly. The currency exchange service was one of great benefit to me who uses USDollars, and did not know where banks were located. The staff was phenomenal - hats off to them. Although I paid for the breakfast, I only went once - not because of the food, but because my body was not use to the time difference and I really slept in on the very comfortable beds.

I did not get to visit the pool and spa location, but from the images around the hotel, it seem to be a place of interest for person with a rental and just was to have a relaxing day.

Regardless, I really enjoyed my trip in Iceland and my experience at the IcelandAir hotel. Just to be clear, and to dispel the myth of the airport being a nuesence, I hardly knew I was living ON an airport.

I would highly recommend this location to anyone who asks, and wish to visit Iceland, and Reykjavik.
