“Good location & accommodations, pleasant staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 1, 2013

We stayed here at the beginning of our tour and at the end. The first room we has was too small for 2 people, we were tripping over our suitcases. I think the hotel was just trying to get us into a room quickly as our flight arrived hours before the rooms were ready. The room at the end of the trip was larger and much better. Excellent buffet breakfast and all staff were helpful, Finnish bartender was friendly. Good location to walk all over Reykjavik which we did. I would stay again.

Fosshotel Lind is in a great location, close to the shopping strip, restaurants and harbor. Rooms are small but spotless. Don't forget your shampoo, even though they did have a liquid soap that says its for hair and body. Water is naturally hard in Iceland so be prepared for a sulfur smell when you first turn on the water. The beds were very comfortable and we were able to get into our room early and we were off and running. Estanis was working the front desk and was extremely helpful in pointing out places in the area we could get to easily. Food in the hotel was very good and more than enough variety to choose from. We stayed there on our first night of our Northern Lights tour and the last . I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone considering going to this wonderful country!

Just got back from a short break in Iceland and have to ask if they are the friendliest people in the world? This hotel was excellent, a budget price but more than quality service. The staff were are friendly and helpful, especially Freya on reception who cheerfully re organised our travel arrangements to the airport 3 times on our last day.

The room was clean and comfortable apart from the individual lamps over the beds which could only be worked by screwing the bulbs in and out as the pull switches were non existent. The breakfast was far more than I expected and provided a great selection of choices from fresh fruit to make your own waffles.

The happy hour in the bar was good value and the barman remembered our choices each time we went in.

The location was very good, 5 mins walk from the main shopping street, 5 mins from the sea front and 10 mins from the famous church on the hill. I would certainly be happy to return there and will happily recommend it to anyone who asks.

The hotel is in a good location as its just off the main street Laugavegur. Bed room barely adequate , though very clean, bathroom very small, no fridge but there is tea & coffee making facilities. The bar has "happy hour" each evening from 4pm / 8pm. there was a very nice helpful young man serving at the bar called Marcin. He really went out of his way to help with all the q's we had for him.The only meal available at the Hotel was breakfast which had something to suit all tastes. When taking an evening tour to see "the Northern Lights" it would have been ideal to have dinner there first as we were being picked up from the Hotel. i think the Hotel lost out on that !!
There is a nice restaurant called "Madonna" across the street & a few other restaurants close by.

I just got back from my trip to Iceland. Similar to other reviews, this hotel was very accomodating with our check in. We arrrived at the hotel @ 8am and were able to get into our room right away which was wonderful. The hotel staff was helpful & room was clean.
The included breakfast was much more than I'd expected - each day there was varios cereals, yogurt, bread, rolls, sausages, eggs, make your own waffels, assort juices & coffee. We arrived at breakfast each morning @ about 8:45 to full quantities of all items and breakfast went until 10am. We were able to eat enough that we didn't need lunch most days which was helpful given the high cost of meals in Reykjavik.
There is free parking available in the back of the hotel & is accessible by obtaining a remote from the front desk (which you have to return each time you use it vs. keeping for the entire stay). This is a minor inconvenience & worth it for the parking. The only reason I didn't give this a 5 star was because there was no maid service on our last full day at the hotel & there were doors open for rooms that had not yet been cleaned for a few days. We stayed from Sat-Mon so I am assuming there was light house keeping staff over the weekend since we were in off peak season. This didn't impact our stay overall, but was a little strange to see.
There is a bar located within the hotel with daily happy hour from 4-7pm with half price drinks which meant about 900KR/drink. I noticed that quite a few other bars had drink specials at various times throughout the evening too.
The hotel location was very convenient. It was about 15-20min walk to most things we wanted to do in the city such as shopping, going to the city center to see Hallgrimskirkja or the Old Wharf for whale watching & Northern Lights boat tours. There is an ATM right across the street from the hotel and a small grocery store one block away.
I'd recommend this hotel to my friends traveling to Reykjavik as a clean, convenient & budget conscious choice of hotel.

Room Tip: We stayed in room 217 and were able to access the internet in our room - maybe because the wifi rout...

I'd definitely recommend the Lind hotel if you're planning a stay in Reykjavik.

First off the location is very good , located just minutes from the main shopping street :Laugavegur in Reykjavik. Close enough that when you get back tired and hungry from a days sightseeing or tour you are minutes away from great cafes , bars and restaurants. But far enough that you are not disturbed by noise at nighttime.

The rooms , although not large, are bright and have ajustable heating (from when you come back cold from a days walking!) .The beds are comfortable, extra pillows provided in a large wardrobe (with safe). The bathroom, although small is adequate and comes fitted with a hairdryer. Be warned, the shower water does have a sulphur-y smell, but aparently this is quite the norm for the area.

The hotel itself is clean and functional, and the reception staff are incredibly friendly and warm; Booking trips and giving advice where needed.

The breakfast is also good, a variety of items such as sauage , eggs and bacon or waffles for those who like a hot breakfast, or yogurt, cereals , pastries and fruit for those who prefer a lighter fare.

I would definitely stay at the Hotel Lind again.

Room Tip: If a room with a view is important to you , a room at the front of the hotel will only give you a vi...

The hotel is very well located, near to the main street. There are few restaurants close by very interesting, specially the Thai one (in the other side of the sqaure). We did not try the local restaurant.

The breakfast buffet was very nice too, with fruits, cerelas, croassant... very nice.
