“lovely hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 6, 2014

We stayed for 4 nights in this very comfortable hotel. The room was lovely and the breakfast very good. We were on the 6th floor and the views out of the windows were excellent. The hotel is quite a long walk from the centre but we really enjoyed the walk along the sea front and it made the holiday even better .great service and value. Would highly recommend.

Room Tip: Ask for a high floor facing north so you can see the northern lights in season. we did see them fr...

A decent hotel. Certainly well maintained and clean and pleasant as a building.

The room itself was huge. Plenty of space. Two full-sized wardrobes and one of the best hotel bathrooms I have ever had!

Breakfast is a decent buffet. It has gluten-free and dairy-free options, too.

If I had to grumble, then the soundproofing between the rooms wasn't great. So the one night when we needed an early night, it was quite noisy from the room next door.

Reception were generally great. Very helpful and friendly. But when I asked them if I could book a table in the restaurant, they weren't quite as helpful. Slightly disappointing, although not a killer for writing a good review!

Room Tip: The 13th floor rooms command a premium, but have great views!

The reception and hotel looks good, the rooms and the service is an other story. The service is almost non existant from when you check in to the room service and the reception in general. The breakfast is only avalibole at certain times without any flexibility. The room I got had broken windows and was in genral old and tired.

Stayed here on conference back in January, great location to explore Reykjavik, nice hotel with good smiling service, great buffet breakfast,it had everything to start your day the best possible way, rooms were nice, with a lovely wet room, everything was spotlessly clean, when you pulled back your curtains in the morning it was you were greeted to spectacular snow capped mountain view,we only dined for breakfast and lunch here, and as with breakfast, lunch was lovely with a fine selection of fish,a great mixture of west and eastern tastes, fine big conference area,as for Reykjavik,I would say if your considering a visit,I would highly recommend it,great unusual city, with good nightlife, lovely restaurants,Icelandic people are good fun,and generally beautiful looking, you must visit the blue lagoon day spa, which is an incredible experience, the only gripe I had was,it's a very expensive city,so be prepared, but all in all a great weekends work,,

We couldn't have been more pleased with our choice. There were hotels in town that were more expensive but couldn't have been better. The rooms were clean and neat, the hotel staff friendly and helpful and the food was fantastic. It is about a 15-20min walk out of town, but it is a nice walk and, had it been summer, we would have borrowed one of the hotel's bikes and rode in. Walking in along the city's main shopping street is a lovely intro to the city. The Grand was a wonderful choice for us and we will certainly be back.

To reiterate the other reviews, this hotel was very clean, well presented and the staff couldn't do enough for us. The free shuttle to the city is a great idea and the room service food was excellent on going back there for another stay!

Stayed here for three day and were very happy with this hotel. Rooms were clean and the staff were very helpful with the arranging for the trips and requests we had. It´s location is a bit away from the city centre so expect a 15-20 walk if you choose. There is also a few bus stops close by, didn´t try the bus as myself and my friend likes to walk.
Good selections at breakfast as well.
