“A good hotel in an excellent location.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 17, 2014

The receptionist, Thora, gave us the best possible welcome which set the tone for the remainder of our stay. She could not have been more cheerful and was extremely helpful in directing us to the places we wanted to go.
The rooms were perfectly adequate and the breakfast was varied, plentiful and kept us going until our evening meal.
It was a very short walk to one of the main shopping streets and then on down towards the harbour.

Located just outside the mainpart of town, easy 5 minute walk to main street,
room basic but of a very high standard.
Good choice at breakfast and most of all the staff were very froendly and couldn`t have been more help full.

What no one tells you about Iceland is that the wonderful geothermal energy means that the hot water smells like sulfur. I am not kidding. If you go to take a shower or wash your hands you smell the distinctive smell of rotten eggs. It is rather disgusting. The Best Western Reykjavik is about what you can expect for a 3 star hotel. Very clean and comfortable. Average continental breakfast included. Not a great location.. a bit of a walk from central Reykjavik. The front desk is very helpful and accommodating (They are VERY GOOD). They offer an early check in for 5000 IKR which is a nice thing. The room is ok..not great. Don't get your hopes up about seeing the Northern lights. But that's more about the Gray Line tours...I will review that separately. But the hot water is truly indescribable. Who wants to wash their hair in rotten eggs ?

We got a double room that had a great view of the city. Breakfast buffet had a nice selection of breads and meats. Special mention to Thora at the Front Desk who was very helpful and had a great attitude all the time!

My friends and I reserved a triple room for 5 nights here. We had an amazing time. The hotel is very clean and in a good location. It is a few short blocks walk to the main street, Laugavegur. We thought the breakfast was basic but overall good -- toast, butter, jam, cold cuts, cheeses, yogurt, croissants, hard boiled eggs, juice, coffee, coffe, and tea. The only issue we had was a weak wifi signal from our room.

Reynir and Thora at the front desk were both very helpful in recommending good restaurants, bars, and things to do. They both made dinner reservations for us when requested. Reynir was especially great. He was very friendly and even waited 20 minutes on hold to schedule a massage appointment for us. He ended up booking us for massages at the World Class Spa. This gains you entrance into the Spa (multiple saunas and steam rooms) as well as Laugardalslaug. Also, the massage was also quite amazing!

Highly recommend this hotel and would stay here again when I come back to Iceland.

Such a clean hotel with very friendly staff. Good continental breakfast. Very clean restraunt and good for a coffee or drink in the evening. Hotel staff have details of all trips available. Nothing's any problem. Excellent location only a few minutes walk to centre.

The staff at the hotel were very friendly and helpful (everyone in Iceland was!). The room was clean. The hotel is an easy 5 minute walk to the main downtown section. Harry's Restaurant next door was excellent. My wife and I enjoyed everything about our vacation in Iceland.
