“Charming simplicity”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 weeks ago

Bright room, charming in its simplicity. Unfortunately looks out over a major construction project currently happening behind the building. So close in fact that the support for one of the cranes rose within feet of our window. Not sure how high this project will ultimately rise and what it will do to the view which would otherwise look out over lower neighboring buildings into the fjiord.

Stayed here at the start of the year and thought hotel was great. The room we were given far surpassed my expectation and I even thought we had been upgraded by accident. Staff were friendly, hotel was clean and comfortable. Good location and able to walk to centre. Wifi only available downstairs in communal area and breakfast was a bit simple but didnt go hungry and would happily stay here again.

Got to the hotel and was given a family room at no extra cost. It was lovely and really spacious.
Hotel was clean and all of the staff were friendly and helpful.
Breakfasts was simple but plentiful. The hotel is about a 10-15min walk to the centre of Reykjavik and good for us because we had hired a car so got free parking at a nearby car park. Would recommend to anyone.

We stayed here between christmas and New year 2014. Hotel is great, modern, welcoming, good reception staff who will organise tours and trips (whales, northern lights etc). Bar and breakfast downstairs. Bar, every evening happy hour, "Polar beer" for just a couple of quid a pint. Not bad and tastes good. Breakfast is a mix of everything, but plenty and does the job.
The room was stunning, with views over the bay, but we did pay to upgrade. Wall to wall windows on one side, fantastic. Beds were 2 singles, next to each other was perfectly line. Nice big bathroom. Room clean, spacious and had a safe there too.
It's a 10-15 min walk to the main restaurants and sights, but don't let that detract from it, a great place to stay.
Iceland itself....well, overpriced, surprisingly unfriendly and not that much happening. This may have been the time of year though....there were whale tours, although choppy would not be the word....the northern lights tours.....questionable, they have a couple of sites you can go to, along with dozens of other coaches and you just wait......and wait......and wait.....personal tours people had more success with.

Room Tip: Upgrade to the superior ones, views are worth it.

Pros: Staff and bar.
Cons: Noise levels from construction. Room could use some art or photos.
Location: Good location. Short walk to main shopping/restaurant area.
While the staff at the hotel were excellent and the room was comfortable, if spartan, the ongoing construction at the hotel ruined the view and was loud. The hotel is being expanded and is also surrounded by other construction projects. I advise staying elsewhere until construction is complete.

The Klettur is relatively central and good 10 minutes walk away from the Hallgrimskirkja. During our stay in August 2013, there was a construction side right next to the hotel. However, the level of disturbance was minimal. The rooms are relatively plain but very clean and the interior is modern. The only drawback is the bed which is well too small. The breakfast is simplistic but the variety is OK. Free Wi-Fi is available reception area and the hotel bar. The service is outstanding. Staff is very friendly and always tries to help. Although it is just a 3 star hotel, I can highly recommend that place!

We spent two nights at Hotel Klettur at the end of a trip around Iceland. We had a really good stay there - the hotel is modern and nicely furnished, and our room was very clean and comfortable. There was building work going on down the road and behind the hotel ( our room looked out onto the back ) but the work didn't bother us at all. Breakfast was fairly basic, but no more so than at any other place we stayed in Iceland. The hotel is very central ( about 5 minutes' walk from the town centre ) and is in a nice, quiet road. We would definitely stay there again and would definitely recommend this hotel.
