“Great Stop for Pastries, Takeout and Souvenirs”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 21, 2014

This was voted the best bakery in Iceland. On your excursions you will stop at tourist restaurants that serve traditional meat soup and less than average sandwiches. I recommend getting the meat soup one day and then picking up sandwiches from better places like this one, which served very good sandwiches and many other goodies and taking them with you. Also- bring food to the airport! You will pay ~$13 for cheapie sandwiches there.

“very nice pastries .......”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 15, 2014 via mobile

This shop with a few tables for eating in does very good pastries. We stopped here after a FANTASTIC horse riding trip (see other reviews) for a snack and warm drink. My daughters both had hot chocolate (they were doing a bit of a hot chocolate study as we visited various places on our trip ;-) ) and they had quite high expectations here as it was such a beautiful French style patisserie selling a delicious looking selection of chocolates too but the hot chocolate here was no better than anywhere else and came in much smaller cups so was less value for money :-( hence the -1* ... The baked goods really are worth going in for and they sell a variety of yummy looking sandwiches on their bread made on the premises.

“Best pastries ever”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 13, 2014

Popped in here really early on a Saturday morning and managed to get a small table. Had a cappuccino, black coffee, pain au chocolat and almond pastry (we had to cut this in half and take the rest away with us as it was massive). Service was friendly although took a while to get coffees and they were a little cold. Decor is tired and could use a facelift. However, the food is undeniably good. Never had pastry so thin and flaky. Everything is made on site and you can watch the chefs at work. Great place... Will be back again for sure!

“Great bakery, good breakfast”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 12, 2014

We arrived in Iceland early in the morning and this was the only place open. They had a great breakfast special of coffee (free refills), juice, a breakfast sandwich and pastry for a very reasonable price. It was a great and friendly place to unwind after a long trip. The bakery items were so good we went back the next day and bought a fresh loaf of bread and homemade jam to eat for breakfast the next two mornings. It is definitely worth a visit for sweet treats, fresh bread and a good light breakfast.
