We stayed two nights in a studio apartment in Vatnsstigur 11 at the end of May on arrival in Iceland for the first time – and it was a great introduction to this country. While the foyer and corridors are a bit chipped and worn, our apartment, no 304, was very spacious, light (on a corner it had lots of windows) and had excellent facilities – cooking, lounge and dining. It is also well-located, out of the noisy areas but still very convenient - two very short blocks from the main street, Laugavegur, where there are ATMs, a supermarket and tourist information, yet also handy to the waterfront and a car rental agency Although there is no reception desk (access details for your room/apartment come with your booking), there is someone on general duty and the tourist information offices are very helpful with most things.
