Description: Cafe Loki offer Icelandic meat soup, Icelandic plate, homemade bread and cakes. Icelandic traditional homemade dishes are our specialty. You can taste fermented shark and dried fish but Icelandic meat soup and our Icelandic plates are most popular among the Rye Ice cream and Skyr cake. Beautiful view over Reykjavik, Hallgrimskirkja church and to mountain Blafjoll. Icelandic food.

“Nice traditional cafe”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 24, 2013 via mobile

We were recommended cafe loki as a traditional Icelandic cafe and enjoyed a couple of glasses of wine, beer and meat soup, cheese and bread. Lovely view to hallgrimskirkja. Was a bit cold downstairs. Great for a local quick bite

“Lovely chocolate cake”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 24, 2013

Just pooped in for a coffee but tempted by the delicious chocolate cake. Was not adventurous enough to try the traditional Icelandic plates but they looked good when they came to neighbouring tables.

“Delicious, Traditional Food & Lovely Place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 18, 2013

Today I went and enjoyed Icelandic Plate II, with Shark meat, lamb jelly, bread, and smoked salmon. I have read a few travel books about Iceland and Icelandic food, and I am looking forward to the fish and bread. Loki totally delivered! Though the portion seemed a bit small, it was actually quite filling, needless to say, the food tastes very good! The little sweetness of the bread, the moisture, and the topping, it was definitely an enjoyment for me :D

“Loved this cafe.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 17, 2013

We found this small restaurant on our first afternoon in Reykjavik and stopped in for a late lunch. All five of us got one of the sampler-type plates that featured several traditional Icelandic dishes like mashed fish and smoked herring. We loved everything (well, except the fermented shark!) and came back on our last day for another hit of the rye bread ice cream, which was amazing. Friendly staff, great view of Hallgrimskirkja, and a terrific opportunity to try a variety of traditional foods. It was truly a highlight of our trip.

“Good spot”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 15, 2013

Stopped here once for lunch and had the Icelandic soup with lamb and flatbread. It was very good. We went back again and just had the chocolate cake and coffee and it was excellent. Service is fine. It is pleasant and unhurried. We just stayed in the downstairs area as the upstairs was very fishy smelling and I am allergic.
