Guesthouse Octavo offers many comforts in a residential area of Reykjavik only a few minutes walk to the city center. Parking is a bit of a challenge as it is residential and you may have to park a few blocks away but isn't a huge problem. I would recommend having a car in Iceland though, it can be quite expensive, but definitely worth having. The hosts, Ulfar and Anna, were great and responded promptly to all e-mails prior to our arrival. While we never met Anna, Ulfar couldn't have been more helpful. He offered advice to where to eat and shop, as well as directions. The room itself was very clean and the bed was very comfortable. The small kitchenette was very useful, and we did some shopping at a grocery store within walking distance and cooked for ourselves as restaurant prices can be quite steep in iceland (with the exception of the ubiquitous hot dog stands, that are delicious and cheap). The bed was very comfortable and the free wifi was great. There are two rooms, both int he basement, there is a small window looking to a backyard garden, and the rooms share a small bathroom in the hallway. The bathroom is a wetroom style with the shower open to the sink and toilet, it can be very cramped and might be challenging for a tall/wide person, but is adequate. One of the public local swimming pools is also within walking distance and is a great way to relax in the evening. Overall, we found it to be an excellent value in the heart of Reykjavik and would certainly stay there again
