“Magical Hike”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 7, 2010

I went on the White Night Hiking tour on Thurs, Aug 5, 2010 and it was definitely the highlight of my trip. Jonas and the other guide (sorry, don't remember his Icelandic name!!! My fault!!!) are very enthusiatic. I am scared of height and with their assitance, I am able to complete and hike and enjoy the magical landscape. This is what I think Iceland is like. I also enjoyed a gourment meal while bathing in the warm river. I'm a foodie and I have to say that I'm very impressed by what is being served that evening. The price of the tour may seem high but considering the entire tour last for 8 hours, it is all worth it. I am very glad that I ended my trip to Iceland with this magical hike. I highly recommend anyone who is travelling to Iceland for a short period of time to do this hike so that they can full appreciate the natural beauty of Iceland.

“The best trip in Reykjavik”

We went on the White Night Hike - it was simply superb. A must do if you're in Reykjavik and want to see some of the spectacular parts of Iceland that surround the city in a hands on, unprocessed kind of way.

The guides are absolutely awesome. Funny, caring and knowledgeable they made sure that everyone had a good time (I think you can tell by people's ratings that this is no lie, everybody had a good time).

You follow a hot river from its start as bubbling water and hot mud pools down a valley to where it meets a cold river. The views are indescribable and wonderful. Where the two rivers meet, guess what, you can go swimming!

Jonas and Ymir lit a fire and let us chill out with some red wine in the river. Then we ate some Icelandic rarities (rotten shark anyone?) and had some spectacular fish soup.

We trekked down the hill further (in the dark!) and finally got home in the early hours. It was a slightly mystical experience, especially as we listened to some inspiring/inspired music on the way home and got to see one of my favourite things - the sunrise.

Goecco also run a free tour of Reykjavik every day - it's totally brilliant, and we didn't pay a penny (or a krona) - funny and gives a different spin on Icelandic history that you won't get from the National Museum of Iceland. You also get some valuable tips on how not to get ripped off whilst in Iceland (they know how to sell stuff!)

“The ultimate introduction to Reykjavik and an unmissable night hike too”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 4, 2010

The FREE walking tour of Reykjavik is an absolute must for visitors new and old. It is only about an hour starting at 1pm, and if done early in your trip can give you your bearings for a much more enjoyable experience. The guide gives recommendations for restaurants in addition to giving a good grounding of the history of the city and the country. If you visit the My Reykjavik office anytime during your visit, the guides will always give recommendations and advice as well as having exclusive deals with some of the restaurants for extra promotions.

The White Night Hike is an unmissable experience but make sure you bring good walking boots, a bathing suit and a towel to fully enjoy the experience! The hike is downhill through a geothermally active area with hot springs and hot mud pools and leads to an excellent geothermal bathing area. Here, the guides cook authentic Icelandic food (we had various foods including whale and fish soup) and when everyone is finished bathing the hike continues on, still downhill to the coach back to Reykjavik!

“Amazing tour, the best way to see Iceland!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2010

We were lucky enough to be staying in Iceland on the longest day of the year, which we spent hiking through the untouched Icelantic wilderness under the midnight sun! It was a magical experience - the hike kicks off in the evening, and while it does require a moderate level of fitness (there are some great cliff-side views and streams to jump over) it is definitely worth it to experience the natural geothermic hot springs and the overwhelming quiet of this private spot, where even some locals had never seen before.

Jonas, our guide, was a joy - very passionate about Iceland and he was able to teach us so much about his homeland and its current state, in terms of both the environment and the politcal climate. He is enthusiastic and energetic, and he has a few other tours as well if you can't make it to this one - there is a haunted tour and his daily free tours of the city, both of which we would recommend as well, especially the free tour if you do nothing else.

Words really can't describe the experience, it was a magical hike that we will never forget! Thanks Jonas! :)

“The best thing I did in Iceland, sign up early as places were quite limited”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 23, 2010

The White Night Hiking was easily the best tour I took in Iceland. it requires a reasonable level of fitness to get to the hot springs but boy is it worth it. You get to float around a steaming hot pool while you hosts serve you a variety of 'interesting' local food, we had sheep testicles, whale and shark on the menu all washed down with the local spirit - Black Death.

The whole trek took around 5 hours from set of the arriving home and was an absolute joy.
