“Foodie tour plus the Westman Islands...Awesome!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 18, 2012

My wife and I booked two tours with Season Tours - the dinner tour and then the Westman Islands. Both were fantastic, I mean really, really good. However, I'm going to rave about the dinner tour because it was not so much a tour but going to your friends house, that you have known well, for dinner. Sure at first we thought what are we going to talk about, what if there are dreaded silent moments. Well, trash those thoughts as Tyffi is not only a great chef but an awesome guy. We started at one from our hotel and straight away the three of us went on a tour of the city. We got to know the history and layout, which is handy after only being there one day, and then we started to hit the foodie places - liquor store, fishmonger and the best cheese shop in Iceland run by a hilarious Scotswoman...yes what are the odds! Anyway, after touring and shopping, we headed to Tyffi's house to chat, eat and generally hang out as Tyffi worked his magic. To say it was a feast does not do it justice. While all the food in Iceland may not be everyone's cup of tea, I can be a bit more adventurous and try everything. Would I stock up on some of the items, no, but did I enjoy trying then, for sure. Overall, 95% of the food was stellar. It was all high quality but I just mean some items won't be on my shopping list, such as whale blubber :) The rest though...lobster, cod, lamb, smoked trout, herring....to die for. By the time it was all said and done, it was evening, and we were beyond full. It was a bit sad to have it end but we know we'll be back. So, my conclusion, if you want an experience that you'll remember not just because of the food but because you were able to really get to know someone local and share in something that is really quite personal, you must do this.

“Season Tours went beyond the call of duty for us”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 15, 2012

In July of 2012, four of us arranged a private tour with Season Tours and Gunnar was our guide and driver.

We were picked up promptly at our hotel in a clean vehicle and off we went. Gunnar was very knowledgeable about all the areas we visited and he took us to places that most tourists don't get to see and told us entertaining stores along the way.

When we would stop to see a major attraction and watched as 30 or 40 people would disembark from one of the may large tour buses we were glad that we had gone with a small tour operator so that we could stay at each place for as long as we wanted. We really enjoyed having Gunnar as our guide.

But one extra service he provided was in helping us track down our missing luggage. We were to head out the next morning for a 9 day hiking trip in eastern Iceland and 3 of us had luggage lost by the airlines. Gunnar made multiple calls to the airlines on our behalf and then in the late afternoon when we determined that our bags wouldn't make it in time for our hiking trip, Gunnar took us to a mall with a large sporting goods store. He waited for us to make our purchases of hiking boots and other clothes and then drove us back to our hotel. This was well beyond what he signed up for and we can't thank him enough for helping us in this way.

We can highly recommend Season Tours and Gunnar as your guide.

“MADE THE ENTIRE TRIP!!! (a must-do!)”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 16, 2012

My friend and I booked the 2 hour Reykjavik Scooter tour during our 2nd day on the trip. We did have to wait about 10 minutes for the computer to register us, but after that, the trip was on! Gunnsi was our tour guide and I will say he is the best guide we've had in ALL of our travels - and we've traveled quite a bit! (Spain, Italy, Australia, New Zealand, Mexico, Germany). Anyway, Gunnsi gave us a personal tour and we learned so much about the culture, history (but in a FUN way). He was very personable and funny as well.

After the trip he asked us what we had planned for the remainder. We didn't have all the details laid out just yet. He offered to spend some time with us at a coffee shop to give us some must-sees and must-do's while we were out there and we ended up changing our entire route! We ended up seeing so much more of the country and were able to see the "hidden gems" only the locals would know about. Thanks Gunnsi!!!!

You will not regret booking ANY tour with this company. They are FABULOUS. And let me also say that this is the first review I've ever written on this site. These guys were worth it!

“Great Way to see a bit of Iceland!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 13, 2012

We arranged for an all-day tour of the Golden Circle and were picked up promptly at our hotel by Tyffi. Tyffi was an outstanding guide! We asked endless questions about life in Iceland and the many sites that we saw. His knowledge and good nature made for a great day. The smoked lamb sandwiches were a lovely surprise and I wish I had one right now! AND - of course, the sites we saw were beautiful and other wordly - and all at our own pace - not the pace of some packed tour bus. With Tyffi we saw it all (waterfalls, rifts, geysers, caves) and more. With the personal tour and smaller vehicle we were able to go places that we wouldn't have seen otherwise. We were only in Iceland for 3 days and this was a perfect way to spend one full and fantastic one! I highly recommend Seasons Tours!

“Highlight of the trip”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 1, 2012 via mobile

We had a great day out and wonderful four-course meal as part of our dinner tour with respected Reyjkavik chef Tiffy. He picked us up from our hotel at 1pm, and for the next seven hours we enjoyed his delightful company and an informed local look at greater Reyjkavik. This included visits to interesting spots, chats with local suppliers where we picked up produce for our dinner, some geological background, as well as historical and political insights about Iceland and its people. To top it off, the weather was fantastic. We were then invited into his home and relished all the traditional Icelandic tastes that were presented to us - there's certainly no shortage of them: make sure you give it all a go. It was great to try things like the whale blubber in milk whey and the sheeps head in jelly made by his mum - both delicious. We were looked after really well and will certainly be in touch with Tiffy on our next visit to Iceland.
