“Great fish”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 11, 2012

We arrived without reservation on a wet tuesday night. Warm welcome. Small place with just a few tables. Restaurant busy with mixture of americans & brits - all friendly. I had the fish & chips - enormous portion & very, very delicious fish. However, the dish was very salty on the whole. My Husband had salmon with veg and rice. He said it was delicious but did not share - that says it all! Husband helped me finish mine & no room for pudding. Would definitely return.

“Great menu”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 7, 2012

I agree with the positive reviews. The portions were generous and delicious and the waiter was eager to help us with our sightseeing. The atmosphere is elegant and the prices were decent. Plus the menu has something for almost everyone except it didn't have steak as I recall.

“Brilliant is an understatement”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 5, 2012

WOW!!!! where do i start?? Firstly i looked for this place because of the tripadvisor reviews already giving it a glowing report. We ate there twice in the end as it's right next door to the Best Western Hotel. From the front it doesnt look that spectacular so could be easily missed and it was be a tragedy to miss it. its a small little restaurant with maybe enough room to seat 20 people no more. The waiter.... who i assume is the owner Harry was very friendly chatted to us about the city and what's good to do i Iceland... he gave us a tourist map to take with us to.

He doesnt have starters on the menu but thats for a reason as the mains are huge. Fish and chips consisted of no less than two fillets of Arctic Char or cod the batter was really light and the fish beautifully cooked. As a brit this is one of our national dishes and i can safely say i've never had fish and chips like this in the UK. The plate is dressed with a superb salad with feta cheese etc.... and fantastic chips. We also enjoyed the beef in oyster sauce with rice... He had various dips including one for the beef which was soy sauce, ginger, garlic and chili... it was hot but the chili burn didnt last long so for me that made it very good indeed. He has a great selection of drinks, Viking on draught was my favourite its a very light easy to drink lager and for Iceland reasonably priced.

The puddings are equally sensational we chose caramel cheesecake and warm apple pie. Now its the little things that make the difference.... these desserts are served with whipped cream which has fresh strawberries and blueberries laid in it and a little chocolate sauce on the other side with a little chocolate treat on the other.

Price wise i thought it was good value for what you had.. 2-3000 isk for a main meal when closer to town the the more local foods whale.. puffin etc..... are closer to 5-6000 isk just for a main meal!

If you go to Reykjavik you must go to Harry's its only a 15 minute walk from the big white church in the centre of town.

“FISH (and chips) to thoroughly enjoy!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 29, 2012

Seriously, the fish is fantastic. The batter isn't too heavy, and they put this fantastic seasoning on the fries. They serve with all the natural sides, but also a sweet/hot chili sauce. I asked for some mayo, and made my own "tartar sauce" with the chili sauce and mayo. Was a perfect way to enjoy a LONG day. Nice atmosphere, really nice server, and easy to get to. Definitely recommend you enjoy it. And come with an appetite because the portion is HUGE!

Me and my wife like to thank you for your nice comment. We do have a Tartar sauce available but the reason we don´t give it with the fish and chips is that it is not well known in Iceland.
Thanks again and also for the nice gratuities, but they are really appreciated over here, but only if the guest is really satisfied with both food and service. Kris and Aralyn.

“Nothing spectactular”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 27, 2012

Harry's is a small "Asian fusion" bistro as they call it, located across the Best Western Hotel. Nicely decorated, with a good bar. It's a store front place and small, about ten tables. The food was decent but nothing out of the ordinary. We had fish and chips, spring rolls and salmon, all served piping hot. The (only) waiter was attentive without being overly friendly. I would recommend the place for being convenient to the hotel, but I wouldn't go out of my way to find it.
