“Thank you for a wonderful time in Iceland!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 27, 2013

I was in Iceland on my own for 10 days from 9 March 2013. Had a great time thanks to GTI. I contacted GTI based on the feedback on TripAdvisor. Although I did not take their package tour, Bob was most helpful. He came up with a personalized itinerary for me. Most of the tours comprised 3 to 7 people. The largest group was the Golden Circle tour consisting of 16.

If you are pressed for time and have to choose, then I would say definitely do the South Shore Adventure and the Golden Circle tours. These 2 tours show you the awe-spiring and beautiful places in this Land of Fire and Ice. You get to see ice-capped volcanoes, geysers, geothermal steam fields with bubbling mud pools, waterfalls, one of which you get to walk behind!
I love the ice cave that Gummi brought us to at Solheimurjokull! It was magical, standing in the blue/green dripping freezing cave!

Gummi, our driver and guide, is very knowledgeable. His running commentary on Iceland's history and sights added to our enjoyment of his country. What I really appreciate is that he did not rush us at any given time. We had sufficient time to admire the sights as well as snap our endless pictures. Due to Gummi's patience our South Adventure tour ended at 10pm instead of 6.
Thank you Gummi!

Gateway to Iceland has a great team of people. They took care of me and made my time in Iceland memorable.
Thank you Steini for your big friendly grin whenever you come to pick me up!
Thank you Elna for being so reassuring over the phone when I needed clarification. Thank you Solla for an enjoyable Golden Circle tour.

Got to see the Northern Lights twice in three tries! Wonderful!

Thank you Bob for everything! I did go cashless throughout my stay as advised by you!

“South Shore Adventure (South Coast tour)”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 24, 2013

Had pre-booked this tour from the UK a couple of weeks before arriving in Reykjavik but you pay the guide when you are picked up at the hotel. So at 8.30am, March 5th, the GTI driver/guide came into our hotel reception to collect us. We got into the comfortable mini-bus and paid him the tour fee by credit card. It was to be a full mini-bus and after collecting the other passengers from their various hotels & apartments we departed for our South iceland tour. We visited stunning waterfalls Seljalandsfoss and Skogafoss, very cold and windy but absolutely fantastic. We stopped at the small village of Vik for refreshments/lunch (buy your own). Vik had an outlet/discount shop next to the cafe/restaurant where the prices were cheaper. We went walkabout on the interesting black beach of Reynisfjara. A noisy drive down a stoney track towards the Solheimajokull glacier and then a short walk to the edge of it, a sight to behold. Our guide for the day was Dooley, he was very informative, friendly and helped made the tour a success. Dooley gave us a running commentary as we drove along and stopped to see the old small dwellings in the sides of hills/mountains where people used to live. Our other mini-bus passengers were friendly, cheerful and created a nice atmosphere. We returned to our hotel around 5.30 to 6pm. The day had not felt rushed and not too long. Would advise people to make sure they are well wrapped up including head gear and gloves as it can be bitterly cold and windy. Our best bits were the waterfalls & glacier. Highly recommend this tour to you if you have the time.

“Amazing. Golden Circle - small mini bus makes it better”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 21, 2013 via mobile

Booked through my hostel the day before, pick up outside hostel. Amazing sites, amazing tour guide who pulled over for us to encounter Icelandic horses. Being on a small bus made the tour that much better; small and intimate. Definitely recommend!

“40th treat-Northern Lights-thank God!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 18, 2013

We booked to go on the Thursday we arrived in Reykjavik but received a text to say that the tour was cancelled due to cloudy conditions-gutted-this was why we'd come to Iceland!!!
However, we were automatically booked on the next nights tour. Picked up on time by 'Dooley' in an American minivan on time and paid there and then. We drove for about an hour out of town and all looked lost until we got to Whale Bay (Hvalfjordur) and the Lights came out-2 shows of about 15 minutes each. Amazing to see. A tip though-wrap up as it gets very cold standing outside in minus temperatures!!
Obviously seeing them isn't guaranteed but if they're out then these guys will take you to the best places to see them! The only very minor criticism was that those in the back struggled to hear our guides commentary-speak up Dooley!!!

“Good value NL trip in a mini van”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 17, 2013 via mobile

We did a good NL trip with these guys in a group of 8 in a minivan. The guide gave us some random facts on route. Bit odd?
However the tour was good and we saw the lights - bonus!
All in all good value considering the size of the group, we were out for ~4hrs.
