“Decent stay in Isafjordur”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 6, 2013

Good place for a budget stay in the West Fjords. Excellent breakfast buffet. Bed was very comfortable and the room was clean. Plenty of parking and is an excellent base to explore the area. Ample restaurants nearby

I have visited some better Edda-Hotels in Iceland. The room was not very comfortable - referring to the price, but clean and o.k. for one night. However the echoing hallways are somewhat noisy, especially when people shut the doors of their rooms. The walls of the toiletts (WC) should sometimes be cleaned too. Breakfast was correct. Service was friendly and helpful.

I've been to 3 Edda hotels in Iceland and this was the worst of all. Service and breakfast were good. But the showers and toilets were not that clean, had to wait long for warm water, and the curtains were way too light. In the summer it doesn't get completely dark so the room was quite light all night..

We stayed here for one night as we were driving through the Westfjords. Like the others have mentioned it is a dorm room with a sink and mirror. It would be nice if there were more bathroom facilities as I too had to wait. Its close to the city center and we had a good view from our window. The breakfast was really good with a variety of things to choose from. We found the staff to be nice and helpful. There is nothing special about this guesthouse, but nothing bad about it either. It's Iceland, so you will spend more time outside enjoying the beautiful landscape and activities versus sitting in your room.

Not the best Edda hotel in Iceland. Again, dorm-style rooms, not too comfortable, in the local school; scarce showers (we actually had to queue in the morning); understaffed... Breakfast is just correct.
A little walk to the town center where I 'm sure the local hotels offer better facilities, although I didn't check their prices.
Free wifi, which is not always the case in Edda hotels.

This "hotel" is actually the dormitory for the local high school. The service and accommodations echo this. The front desk service was sketchy. Our room was a long walk from reception through echoing hallways. The room was spacious and spotlessly clean, but the decor was spartan. All the aforementioned would have been just fine if it hadn't been for the disproportionately high price!

Hotel Edda is very comfortable with a friendly and helpful staff. No hair dryer, so take your own. The breakfast was excellent, with fresh fruit, cereal, hard boiled eggs, meat/cheese, etc. BTW - plain yogurt is called sour milk in Iceland. The area is very scenic and every place is a short walking distance.
