“Great starting place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 17, 2014

Very close to the airport, but expect a $30 taxi ride (we forgot they had an airport shuttle!)Good size room and clean bathroom and bed was very cozy. Not great on the view spectrum, but there is a cute tourist attraction with a little elf in the mountain right close by. Breakfast was good as well!

We stayed here on our first night in Iceland. Someone from the hotel picked us up at the airport for free.

Less than a 10 minute drive from the airport, the hotel was very clean and pleasant. Breakfast was comprehensive and the view of the harbor was lovely.

If you're looking to stay around the airport, this place is a pleasant surprise.

As we had a very early flight the next morning we decided to check in and leave our luggage and drop off the hire car the day before as I know they offered runs to the airport in the morning. The lady at the desk offered to follow us up to the hire car place and run us back down to the hotel. The hotel and rooms are very nicely laid out and the decor has been well chosen. Wifi was available.

We stayed here at the start and end of our 10 day holiday. The accommodation was spotless and very comfortable. Breakfast was fantastic and there is a lounge looking over the bay where we drank hot chocolate, latte, etc from the machine available free of charge to all the guests. Only a small hotel but delightful and I would return there again without hesitation. Highly recommended. It is an easy short walk across to the somewhat deserted town but when we were there the Festival of Lights was on, so there was a funfair and all sorts going on.

Probably the best view around. I felt like a family guest. If you know what the building looks like it is easy to find. Might not be the best place to take your school group as I am sitting in the quiet lounge relaxing while I type this. Down the hill is a cave with a free display of a giant that is neat thing considering the price.

Room Tip: our room did not overlook the ocean, but that would be nice.

True to all the reviews on here it is a lovely hotel. Once we arrived we phone the owner who can to pick us up at the airport and when we needed to return they arranged a lift back. The breakfast was very informal and you felt like it was your own kitchen. Endless tea and coffee throughout the day. Fruit on the side plenty of choice in the morning. The hotel had two bikes that we borrowed with no cost just ok you can use them! We cycled to Gardskagi where there is a massive lighthouse and a nice restaurant that over looks the sea, where the owner has a vast knowledge and will point out the whales swimming close to the shore. The food here is lovely we had the lamb it was so tender! We then cycled back to the hotel and have to say motorist are few but they gave us plenty of space on the road. The next couple of days we hired a car from the hotel 45 euros a day, cars are at the hotel and we went to the blue lagoon that is amazing it's a lovely hot natural spa but again expensive, then we also saw the bridge between to continents and the hot springs nearby. We never saw the northern lights it's hit and miss this time of the year due to the weather. You will definately need a car out here as all the organise trips run from the capital Reyjavik and they are expensive too!. Bus does run from near the hotel to the capital it's 50km and cost £40 return. Have to say I didn't much like Reyjavik it's got lovely views but expensive coffee shops etc much prefer where we were if I had a choice to go back. Our location is Quiet close to a small town where you can get food to buy and supermarkets. Bear in mind Iceland is very expensive we found an average meal was over £50 each. Coffee can cost £6.00. We found two places good to eat that was ily and fenardos in the town. Usually KFC there but no McDonalds and Burgerking!. If the northern lights did make an appearance then the hotel reception would happily wake you. If you want peace and quiet but not totally isolation then this is the place to go. The airport is 6km away not far... there are lovely cliff walks you can do right from the hotel. One of the best places I've ever stayed at. Even has a hot tub that you can use anytime!

Room Tip: We had room no 3 doesn't face the front of the house but over looks the hills and quiet. It is o...

Stayed here four nights and everything was spot on . Family friendly hotel who went out of their way to be helpful and ensured our stay was the best in the Reykjanes Peninsula. Our room and the buffet breakfast were great value for money and the free help yourself refreshments were a boon. The free Wifi throughout was a big help in planning our days and the owner personally delivered our tablet to the airport when we left it in our room.... nice touch!
