We came across with this lovely botanical garden when we were wandering around Akureyri and it was a wonderful surprise to us. We loved it so much that the following day we came here again. It's really hard to understand how it can be possible to grow so lovely flowers in such a nothern part of the world, but, they did it and congradulations to all who made it possible. The garden is very colorfull, there is a lovely blue house inside (but we could not figure out its purpose as it was closed). There is a lovely café called "café björk" inside and many locals seem to spend afternoon here as it was full both time we visited the gardens. There are 2 entires: one from the fjord side and the other from the hospital side. The first impression from the hospital side is stronger as the most colorful flowers are there. The gardens are open until 10 pm in summer. We adored this lovely hidden gem and we recommend it to all visitors of Akureyri for a relaxing break.
