“Good value”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 29, 2012

Having read previous reports I was a little concerned, however, the pool and grounds were constantly being cleaned and maintained. Staff were efficient and friendly. The notification about not taking food into the apartment didn't really affect us as we spent very little time indoors.
We would stay again, however, we like to be able to walk into Kyrenia in an evening, not drive for about 8 miles. We enjoyed a couple of meals at a fairly new restaurant in Alsancak Village, run by a retired police officer and his wife. This was just a short walk away, although we did have to cross a rather busy main road to get to Alsancak.

I was moved to this hotel after staying in a poor quality hotel for the first two days of my holiday. This hotel was a pleasant change. I was put into a poolside room with a double bed. The room is luxury, it is very clean and modern, it's like a little apartment. The hotel is very quiet so if you're wanting a peaceful relaxing holiday it is ideal. The staff are lovely and always welcoming and want to talk to you.

The rule with bringing food in i didn't have any problem. Most hotels in kyrenia have the same rule. I brought in food for lunch and nobody questioned what I was doing. They have a fridge in the room with priced drinks and nuts, the prices are slightly more expensive then the local supermarket but you're on holiday relax!

Just a note, if you drop any food on the floor in the apartment make sure you put it in the bin or you will get infested by ants!! again happens in most hotels.

I would like to give a fair review and set the record straight as I think some reviews have been a bit harsh although I would NOT stay here again.

Arriving at the hotel you see immediately the infamous sign which informs you that you will be fined £10 per person if you take any food or drink into tne hotel, plus they will confiscate the goodies. Not only that if you are merely suspected of taking anything in you will still be fined. We arrived just after midnight and it was so important to get the message across that they told us again when taking us to the room, and once in the room drew our attention to the notice stuck on the fridge. At this time of night when you are really tired not a good move on their part. We hired a car so took in anything we desired and put what we didnt consume in tne car. Obviously you cant do this with food but if you order the right size pizza and drink all your wine it shouldnt be a problem. Just make sure you dispose of all your rubbish in an external bin. Its a farce really, its very annoying to ha e to do this everyday and for this reason I wont go back. I am not mean or tight but on princip,e I would not pay a fine to them as i felt the notice is rude and notices like this should be left in tne school playgrou d where they belong. I wish they had put as much effort into providing a friendly service. They didnt it was as if they couldnt be bothered. By the way the prices on the very very limited selection of items in your fridge which you could buy from them were on a level with a restaurant so not extortionate but.....you could buy 5 times more with your money at the supermarket.

Our room, 132, was lovely. Large bedroom, large wardrobe and dressing table. Excellent hairdryer. Lounge with two big couches, dining table and 4 chairs. Great place to eat your pizza you bring in from outside.

The room and bed really clean. No rubbish outside although bin always full of pizza boxes....everybody was at it.

Breakfast was exactly same everyday. Cereals, bread, assorted cheeses, boiled eggs. I loved it not sure what you would do though if you dont like cheese , probably have to bring something in.

Pool, gardens and surrounding area always very clean.

Never tried the evening menu, too busy eating pizza, but selection seemed good. Never saw more than a couple of people eating at the restaurant which could be down to the notice and people making a point as I did.

This place is lovely its just that notice and the fact it is so important to them. They should put the same effort into making tneir guests feel welcome.

Big negative about this hotel is the location. You need a car. Its in the middle of nowhere and once the buses stop which i was told was 5 o clock, you would have to pay for a taxi as i would not walk that road at night. Its pitch black and very busy with fast cars.

A final note, get your pizza from Biongiorno, they were delicious....enjoy.

This was a cheap last minute break for my friend and I. Read some of the previous reviews which were a bit of a mixed bag so wasn't sure what to expect. The location was ok for us as we hired a car and used local Dolmus. I would thoroughly recommend exploring as there are some great places to visit. The room we had was OK and adequate for our purposes. We received clean towels every day from the housekeepers. Upon arrival we saw the sign about not taking your own food and drink into the rooms and asked staff where we could buy large bottles of drinks for use in our room and we were sent in the direction of the supermarket opposite - very cheap and we kept our fridge well stocked with no issues. We were out nearly every day and are not pool people so couldn't really comment on what the pool was like. Apart from Breakfast we did not eat in the Hotel either, so again cant comment on the quality of that aspect. The staff on the whole were friendly, especially David - who did have a great dry sense of humour. I also read some unfavourable comments about breakfast but we found it ok - enough to keep us going until about 3pm - cereals, tea/coffee/juices, eggs, cheese, meats, bread/toast, yoghurt, jams and honey and always a selection of fresh fruit. I Would recommend staying here as a base to explore further - has everything you may need for a no frills but comfortable stay. We paid less than £350 for flights and hotel for a week, well worth it at this price and we had a great holiday.

Room Tip: I would advise getting a room over the back of the pool - its well away from the road and backs on t...

We had a very relaxing holiday. The apartment was clean and comfortable, and the pool area well appointed with sunbeds and shades. Pool towels were not always available.
However, the hotel could do to tighten their act.
1 Lots of things they advertised; sauna, massage, jakusi etc either did not actually work or were not on offer.
2 Breakfast was adequate with a reasonable mix BUT was SO boring. Exactly the same each day. Needs a bit more imagination
3 Notices that threatened confiscation of food taken into rooms + fines were understandable BUT tactless. Need to be made more diplomatic.
4 Foyer and bar area rather tired and dated. Not much atmosphere.

North Cyprius FAR better than South (cheap and not commercialised) Some really good restaurants overlooking bay or harbour or a bit inland. If only want to walk try Capitano, Cenap, Blue Dolphin, or Sea Breeze on the North coast. Really good value.

Staff were pleasant and helpful

Room Tip: Go for apartment, but don't expect cooking facilities. Top floor quieter.

We booked this as a package holiday through Direct Traveller and had a week's stay here B&B board. Rooms are great - the real selling point is that you have a mini-apartment with bedroom, bathroom and living/kitchen area with balcony overlooking the central pool.

There was a strange notice on the fridge asking us not to put our own food in and that it would be removed! This didn't happen and we kept some bread and salad in there to eat at lunch, having dinner out and about.

The apartment was very clean and spacious. The TV was impossible to work. The air con was brilliant!

Breakfast was alright - I think a few cereals could be offered, but I suppose it was traditional for the area. Staff were a bit of an odd mix of ex-pats and locals, but friendly enough.

The pool was great although we had heard there had been problems just before we went. There were plenty of sun loungers for everyone. The bar played some strange music at times, but it wasn't too intrusive. Drinks and ice creams were reasonably priced.

We did not have dinner in the hotel, but it was available. I would highly recommend a place about 10 mins walk (can't remember the name!) - come out of the hotel and turn left, After a while on the dusty road is a left turning - down here walk past the first establishment and there is a restaurant opposite some sports pitches that is amazing! We ordered a standard main course, but were provided with a huge spread of meze plates to start with all traditional Turkish Cypriot food and our main course was followed by a fabulous platter of fresh fruit - the figs are to die for! All of this was included in the price of the main, but is not advertised in the menu. The man who runs it is so nice and welcoming as well. I think we paid the equivalent of £14 for two people including 2 non-alcoholic drinks!! We re-visited several times and met some lovely couples there who had also discovered this gem!

There is a supermarket a little way along from the hotel in the right direction as you exit. Useful for those snacks and drinks you always fancy in your room. There was a decent pizza place opposite as well that was very cheap!

A bus runs along the main road into town, very cheap but very Turkish! Used by the locals as well - you just flag it down. It takes about 15 mins to get into the town centre. We also hired a car which you need to get around as the hotel isn't overly central. The beaches in the area aren't great either - I'd recommend travelling west towards Turtle Beach instead. Car hire is available through your tour operator or the hotel and I wouldn't recommend going with anyone else as they can rip you off. I think we paid £50 for 5 days which was ideal.

If you fancy a sunny holiday (it was up to 40deg in September!) in a cheap location (not on the euro) and a little off the beaten track and not spoilt (like the Greek side of Cyprus) then this is for you. Not a huge amount of nightlife, but some interesting sights to see.

We stayed here in May 2012, the place was very quiet, the weather lovely. Most days we had the (super clean) pool to ourselves. The staff was friendly and helpful, the rooms were cleaned every day. Will definitely go again.
