“Turkish Delight”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 3, 2012 via mobile

Our first visit to Almond, and TRNC. I've read some long reviews and told myself to keep mine short...haha! Ali and his family sail a well-run ship. They seem to have found that balance between providing good value and beautifully well-kept grounds & accommodation, without too much compromise. I admire their acumen. The Sports Bar is great, far enough away from the main area of the hotel not to be intrusive. The staff without exception were as expected; delightful - being informative, friendly, creative and always there when you need them, regularly going the extra mile. Admittedly the hotel was fairly quiet at the end of November. They genuinely (I hope) enjoy their work. I read reviews before travelling, praising Lily and Ken(an), Stan(islav) and, boy, they made our holiday. If they could be canned and sold across the world, remember it was my idea...but we must not forget their mentors Ali, his wife, Gülten, Ayse and Ahmed who put this team together. We sincerely hope Dervise's broken foot heals in time for a great Christmas! This is a great base for touring and I did not foresee this country being one in which I felt the safest I ever have in any of my travels in 35 years. The Turkish Cypriots are kind, generous, helpful, respectful and humorous. Like in all things, you get out what you put in. This hotel and the people in it and locally, seem to give back so much more. So much for a short review...

We were delighted with the Almond Holiday Village. It has lovely gardens, the accomodation was very comfortable and the food was excellent. Above all this, however, is the friendly and relaxed atmosphere around the place. It is an good base from which to explore the north of Cyprus either by car (the hotel has a small number of cars which they hire out at reasonable rate) or by the local Dolmus which pass right outside and will stop wherever you want. We would certainly stay here again on our next visit.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Almond Holiday Village, having opted for a hotel room rather than a villa. The room was pleasant and comfortable, and the carton of milk for the tea was a really nice touch. The pool area and surrounding orchards are lovely-remember to visit the ostrich. We had one lunch at the poolside bar and one evening meal in the restaurant. Both were excellent in quality and value. We particularly loved the quiet terrace, overlooking the pool, just opposite our room. Nobody else seemed to use it so we enjoyed many hours sitting and reading in the shade and seclusion. Everyone at the hotel was friendly and helpful and seemed genuinely interested in making your stay pleasant. The local dolmus are absolutely brilliant and a cheap and easy way to visit Girne and Lefkosia-just walk along the road and listen out for the beep.

Once again we have had a wonderful time at Almond Holiday Village. Same immaculate rooms, service and food! The staff are so friendly and can not do enough for you. the best breakfast ever freshly cooked every morning no rubbery eggs here! We had value for money all round. The welcome given is outstanding . Roll on our next visit. A big thank you for our stay.

Room Tip: We always stay in hotel but friends stayed in bungalow found it just as nice.

my partner and I have just returned from a lovely restful week at the almond village. This is the second time we have stayed here and sometimes when you go back somewhere its never quite as good as you remembered it.However this is not the case here. The food is just as good since they have had the same chef working there for a few years always a good sign, the rooms are just as nice and the family who own it are just as lovely. It still retains the laid back friendly atmosphere, this place really is a little gem and it certainly wont be our last visit,

Room Tip: all the rooms in the hotel seem just as nice but they also have nice bungalows in the gardens if you...

We booked our holiday at the Almond Village on a recommendation and on reading the reviews couldn't really believe anywhere could be that perfect for such a realistic price. How wrong we were. We had a mini villa which gives you more space than the usual hotel room. It was spotlessly clean and as we arrived late in the evening, we were offered sandwiches and fruit in our room. These were freshly made but arrived very soon after ourselves. We had taken up the half board option and did not regret this at all. The food in the evening was of a high standard and was patiently explained to us each morning by Dervisha. Breakfast was also a delight and served by Lily and Olga who became friends very quickly. Snacks and drinks served at the hotel were also very reasonably priced and we found it very hard to tear ourselves away during the day. Ken and Stanley took over in the restaurant and bar from about 4 in the afternoon and once again looked after us very well.

The newly opened Sports Lounge put on some entertainment on the Friday evening when we were there. This new addition to the hotel has been very tastefully planned and we thoroughly enjoyed the guitarist who performed there.

We can only reiterate the comments of other guests. Ali, Dervisha and the family are running a wonderful establishment which is impossible to fault. They just have everything right from the accommodation to the food, from the very good team they have working for them to the booking process. Congratulations to you all. We just had the most wonderful holiday.

Room Tip: I would recommend a mini villa if stairs are not a problem as you definitely benefit from more space...

This was our second visit to the Almond. Having stayed last year in a bungalow we thought we would stay at the hotel this time. We were not disappointed, very comfortable spacious room, tastefully decorated, lacking nothing. The food was, as ever, to die for and the service was second to none. They say you should never go back - they are wrong! The family are wonderful, nothing is too much trouble - we could live there!
