“noisy cat city”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed October 9, 2013

Cats begging at meal times were a pain. It didn't help having a cat feeding area in the grounds.
I am allergic to cats co mealtimes were a struggle due to begging cats. Hotel was undergoing building work so constant noise throughout the day. Also a major development is being built opposite the hotel so noise all day from 0730 till dusk. Heavy plant regularly drives through hotel grounds to and from this site. So if you want a quiet hotel don't stay here for at least 5 years until the building work is finished. We didn't see much of the hotel as we were out all day looking for some peace and quiet. Nice weather though!

Room Tip: Do not use rooms at back of hotel nearest the sea as these are opposite the noisy building site. (RO...

riverside gardens are going through a major upgrade and this was a bit chaotic at times ,although the staff did their best to keep every one happy.Sorry to see the old reception staff have moved on and the new reception staff will take time to remember faces from the past.
the cleaners have all changed and even though they do an excellent job they seem to spend most of their time on their mobile. least the pool areas and new a la carte restaurant are clean and well looked after.still intend to go again next year.

Room Tip: if not satisfied with what you get just ask for an exchange

We stayed in a one bedroom villa, it was set up as a double when we got there they came and split the bed and set up as twin without any problems straight away - even though it was almost midnight when we arrived. The villa was plenty big enough, had a 3 seater sofa and two chairs, had a decent size kitchen with a dining table and 4 chairs then upstairs was the spacious bedroom and good sized bathroom. Although the kitchen didn't have everything you might need if you were planning on cooking a main meal it had all the basics and if you asked at reception they would have given you extra utensils should you have needed them. There were also two good size balcony's plus two terraces. The only slight downside was the walls were quite thin so you could sometimes hear the neighbours if they were talking fairly loudly or banging doors but you get this is most hotels anyway.
There are three good sized pools which are all clean and well kept. Although all the rooms were full none of the pools were full or overly busy and there were plenty of sun beds/umberellas. We stayed on room only so didn't eat at the buffet restaurant but we did eat at the a la carte near the swimming pool and all the meals we had were delicious and reasonably priced and the waiters were friendly and helpful.
We didn't use the shuttle into Kyrenia but we did use the shuttle to the beach one day, it was very full and lots of people pushing to make sure they got on. The beach itself was nice, nice sand and shallow, clear water. To the right of the beach there was a fantastic little cove to swim in and a couple more further down. The restaurant/café at the beach was nice and again reasonably priced.
The resort is out of the centre of town however there are a couple of restaurants/bars within walking distance as is the main road where you can get the dolmus/bus into Kyenia. There is also a main supermarket about a 15min walk away however the small one on site sells most things you would need - although doesn't open until 10am so we couldn't get any fresh bread for breakfasts. They will also order you a taxi at reception, it cost us just under £10 to get to the harbour which is lovely and has some great restaurants/bars
We went on one trip which the Karpaz full day trip. It took in some lovely little villages including Bogaz which was wonderful. There were also some mosques, chuches and the Lourdes shrine and some mosaics. Also saw the wild donkeys and went to Turtle beach which was fantastic. It was a really good day and would recommend it.
Although we didn't rent a car whilst we were there I would next time as it would be ideal to get around and there are loads of nice villages/beaches that would be nice to visit.
I would definitely stay here again next time we visit northern Cyprus and hope to in the next couple of years
We booked direct with the hotel who also arranged a transfer from Larnaca airport, all went smoothly and was very well arranged and was a good price, we found it much cheaper than booking a package holiday with any of the agents

Room Tip: we stayed in room 68, was close the pool and restaurant without being on top of them and so nice and...

This place must get four stars because of the pools. it can't be for much else. Buffet food poor, mostly lukewarm slop for dinner, soup was edible. Breakfast wasn't worth the walk. Bed and pillows uncomfortable. Villa sorely in need of refurbishment; dingy and dark. At least we had a balcony with a view of the sea and the weather was good!

Returned to Riverside once again, this time though bit disapointed in the state of accomodation.
It seems the use "Superior" villas should be dropped, if the one we stayed in was anything to go by It proberly only managed to reach the standard villa type (hate to see what the basic is like).
They should spend their money on reurbishing the exsisting stock instead of building more!
Self catering is nearly a no no unless you live on boiled or fried meals, no oven of any kind and no grill/toaster, but they do provide a kettle!!!
No comfort if you stay in the villa, if you wanted to watch the "TV" (came from Noah's ark) it is located in the bed room, the only resemblence of comfort!
We have been staying at this resort on and off since 1997 and over the years the changes that have been made do not seem to have kept up to todays standards that everyone is looking for.
We have decided that if we return to North Cyprus Riverside will the last place on our list to stay!

Room Tip: Insist on the type of villa you payed for, and if you have difficulties in climbig stairs ask to sta...

I was a bit wary as I booked this holiday before reading some of the reviews.... I needn't have been! Arrived late and was taken straight to eat before checking in, this saved a rush to check in at reception as people could go at varying times.
After checking in, luggage was carried to our room by reception staff. We really liked the apartment. Set over 2 floors, it was spacious, clean, plenty of furniture and no less than 4 balconies/patios! Also, the bed was very large and very comfortable.
I thought the grounds of the hotel were lovely, little paths winding between the apartments/villas and amongst pretty foliage.
I'm not understanding peoples issue with sunbeds.... We never "reserved" ours with towels and could always find a choice of sunbeds, although I imagine this may not be the case in high season.
We only ate dinner there 2 or 3 times because I'm not very fond of buffet food and like to be waited on when dining. However when we were there there was a good choice of dishes and always some form of meat dish. We lunched a few times at the a la carte restaurant and enjoyed that very much. There is also a lovely restaurant within an easy walk of the hotel.
The hotel is out of the way but we got taxis into Kyrenia (which we loved) the cost of taxis varied greatly from 25tl to 40tl, the ones we booked from the hotel were the cheapest.
On a negative side there could have been more on around the hotel. The bar didn't open until 6pm, although you could have a drink in the restaurant which opened at 12 noon. There was entertainment on only 2 of the evenings, which I thought was pretty poor.
I would advise people to ask for and keep all receipts for bar bills.... We paid as we went but always had to give our room number, on leaving the bar one evening we were told we hadn't paid, I had paid about half an hour previously, but had to apy again! Then on checking out we were told we owed money for drinks on the first evening, which had also been paid for! This, we refused to pay for again!
All in all we wouldn't stay again, but only because of the remote location, other than that we had a lovely relaxing holiday.

Room Tip: Room 28 is lovely, large and comfortable.

Had great family holiday, 3 good pools, clean accommodation, friendly/helpful staff, fragrant gardens. Yes the towels on the sunbeds around the pool was an issue, certainly need more sunbeds.

Few pointers: some pavements are v uneven/not well lit at night & v easy to take a tumble and always watch your kids in the pool, the pool with slides is very deep....

Yes the resort is a bit out of the way and that doesnt suit all but it suited us.

Thought food was nice and it was good to get the kids to try different local foods. More meat dishes generally would be good and certainly more variety in the desserts required.

Little shop with essentials on site with a lovely glamorous granny on the till.
