We've just returned from a week at the Denizkizi hotel and overall we were very impressed. The hotel is in a quiet area, there are a few shops just outside the hotel, but it's easy to hop on a dolmus, [a shared mini-bus], at the top of the road if you want to venture further. The ambience is completely relaxed, when we went the guests were mainly middle aged or older, British and some younger Turkish people, but no children, that's not to say that they wouldn't be welcomed. The hotel has been refurbished and the rooms are modern and spacious with lovely picture windows which more than compensated for the lack of a balcony. A couple of tiny things; lack of drawer space, if you didn't shut the shower door 'just so' there could be a lot of water and you couldn't get an iron but, do you know what these are just tiny things. You can get tea/coffee making facilities on request, which was a nice touch. Everywhere was very clean and well maintained. The communal areas have retained a traditional feeling and there is a large terrace, perfect for a pre-dinner Brandy Sour! The swimming pool was just great, very large and you could have a proper swim. The beach area was beautifully maintained and very picturesque. And the gardens were lovingly cared for and provided an attractive backdrop to the hotel. There are some steps to climb, to the beach and pool, but also a buggy available for hotel guests with mobility restrictions. There was never a problem getting a sun lounger, no-one getting up at 4 a.m. to 'reserve' them, which was refreshing, and the hotel provide towels. The buffet style food was traditional but good quality, with fresh local ingredients. I am a vegetarian and had no problems with what was on offer as there was a huge selection of meze type options. Drinks at the hotel, [mini-bar, bar and restaurant], were reasonably priced. The thing that made the hotel exceptional for us, and we're quite picky, was the service, it was quite simply superb. Nothing was too much trouble; we arrived at 10p.m. and were offered some food and a drink, and when we tried to pay for the drink the hotel wouldn't take our money. We left at 5.00 a.m. and breakfast had been plated up for us. We changed our room, absolutely no problem, got additional coathangers, any request we had was accommodated with a smile. The owner is ever present and friendly. He took the trouble to check that we were happy every day and you could tell that he really meant it, he wanted us to enjoy his beautiful hotel and tell everyone else how great it is - which is what we're doing now!
