“Nice & comfortable”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 30, 2009

I have been to this Radisson Blu few times already, it is nice & comfortable but nothing special. This hotel changed owners and name frequently in the past few years, at first it was Scandic, then SAS and so on. Anyhow, this hotel always in the same good location by the river and just 10 minutes walk from the city centre.
However, I wouldn't say this is a top class hotel in Turku, service was sometimes arrogant and there are some things that needed to improve to make this hotel my favourite in this city.

This is a fabulous hotel. Staff were extremely helpful and generous with their time. The room itself was spacious and nicely furnished with great views across the river. The city is only a short walk away and there's plenty to see and do with some lovely restaurants nearby. Breakfast at the hotel was excellent with a good range of things to choose from and plenty of space to sit. All in all I cannot fault this hotel!

We had a great stay here. The bar on the river was nice, the rooms very comfortable and the breakfast excellent. The location is good as well, so there is not much which could be done better. Great value for money.

A not to big hotel, with nice designer room and wonderful beds with latex matresses. Slept like a baby. Very nice by the river that runs through town and close to everything. Clean and neat with a nice staff- apart from one of the bartenders in the hotel bar who seemed a little stressed out.

Hotel is average in appearance. Rooms are small but comfortable. Ask for a room facing the river. Front desk is hard to reach by phone from the room but very helpful once you are able to reach them. I am surprised at the room rate. Considering how expensive everything else in Finland, room rates are quite reasonable. Parking is unreasonably expensive for a small town like Turku. Free online internet access is a plus. Other hotel chains should emulate this approach. Not sure why expensive chains like Westin and Hilton charge upto $10 per day for internet access.

Had a three night stay in Turku and wasn't expecting much !

On first impressions The Radisson looked a little gloomy....they must get rid of that dark burgundy decor...but the basic double we stayed in was excellent with a superb comfortable bed (the only critisicm would be that the bath towels were on the small side and that usual rubbish eco friendly toilet paper was brutal !)

The staff were really cheerful, friendly and on the ball....

We had an absolute stonker of a meal there the first night...we spoke to one of the staff there about the restaurant and they told us that they had a new chef and that they were lifting their game on the food front and actually wanted the hotel to also be a 'destination' restaurant for people (The solitary, cheerful Polish waiter worked his socks off doing everything and was a star...)....excellent food and service.

If you do go to Turku do try, what we thought was the best restaurant in town...its called the BRAHEN KELLARI (just off the main square)...do not be put off by the imposing solid metal door that looks like Brixton prison gates..(I am gusessing here !...) ...its a joy when you get downstairs and the food and service is exemplary.

The whole it-doesnt-get-dark-at-night thing is very very wierd...
