We had a wonderful season menu dinner at Pöllöwaari in March 2014. The menu was built so that each step included also a dedicated sparkling wine / champagne with it.
First we were served with monkfish & mascarpone together with cava (Agusti Torello Mata Brut Reserva 2009), then scallop with spring onion with English sparkling wine (Grosvenor Merret Blanc de Blancs 2010). That was, btw., my first time to taste any English wine and it was a positive surprise.
As the main course we were served lobster and shrimps with real French champagne (Blanc de Blancs Millesime 2005), which happened to be the only drink that was not perfect!
As a dessert we got white chocolate with brambles together with Braida di Giacomo Bologna Estate's sweet Brachetto sparkling wine.
It was extremely nice to rely on decisions made by a professional sommelier, and not try to pick up something to drink on your own...
The dinner was a well-balanced experience and the staff served us delicately. It really was worth every euro (quite many of them).
