We went specifically to enjoy something special and we were not disappointed. We started with a nettle soup with smoked prawns, Wow. To remember.
Maija had reindeer meatballs for main course and she loved it. Presentation just beautiful.
I had flat fish that was just exquisitely cooked and presented. Although the fish was grilled the fleshy texture of the fish remained and yet it was hot. Truly amazing.
For desert I had something that I will never forget - taste wise. :) for the life of me i cannot remember the name of the dish. Maija also had something mouthwateringly good.
When considering just the quality of the meals - the value is good to excellent. Wine is expensive here - but having said that the selection of wines are particularly good and some excellent vintages are to be had at Postres. We had a 2009 Chateneuf de pape that was heaven.
In conclusion re the meals...the chef clearly has not only great cooking skills but has a wonderful mind for knowing what ingredients will work together. Who ever would have thought that and orange flavoured desert would marry tastewise exquisitely with a licourise enhanced slightly sweet sauce. Not me. But it was magnificant and very novel and memorable.
We found the location on Helsinki's Esplanade to be very nice - we had sunshine :). This street is the equivelant of other major cities best city centre address. It is a also very close to other Helsinki city attractions.
We found the service to be alround friendly and informative. We had previously reserved, and we're shown directly to out table looking out on the street. Proactive attention from the staff to ensure our comfort and overall enjoyment was noticed.
We both heartily recommend Postres and we are planning to return for an evening meal sometime soon.
