“Terrific Value”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 18, 2014

The hotel deserves a hurrah for the value they provide. For the price we paid, I was very pleasantly surprised at what we got. The rooms was great; very comfortable with a big bed, had a fantastic entertainment system on the TV, and a good layout in the closet. The bath even had a proper shower (I've never understood that half glass door thing in many European showers). ;-)

The staff were very helpful, if at times a bit reserved. Anything we needed, they were more than ready to get us.

The free bikes on loan were great! We took a two hour ride around the waterfront and loved it.

The restaurant is good too. As we found in all of Finland, food and drink are not a bargain. However, it's was all very good. In fact, the hamburger was one of the best I've had in a while.

The location is just about perfect. It's close to everything you'd need for a visit to Helsinki. We walked most places, and when we needed to go further afield, the tram runs just beside the hotel. Also, if you like chocolate, Karl Fazer is directly across the street!

This hotel is truly superb. The breakfast is some of the best we have eaten anywhere in the world! Staff are very helpful. Will definitely stay here again! Our upgraded room is super. The electric bed is fun to play with! The double shower makes for fun also!!

This is an ideal location for a visit to Helsinki. You can walk to it from the Railway Station (worth a visit in its own right) where the Finnair bus drops you. Shops, restaurants, museums and sights are all close by. Café Fazer with its tempting cakes is opposite. The rooms vary in size; some of the smaller ones may feel a bit cramped and have shower only. I noticed that the heavy desk chairs were leaving gouges in the wood floor - that needs addressing. We had two stays separated by a few days. Our second room was larger with a bath & shower, and, although exactly the same concept as our previous smaller room, felt more 'designer'. Anyway, it is a comfortable place, excellent buffet breakfast, which can get a bit crowded; friendly, helpful reception. Hard to beat on convenience. It must, however, be the only hotel in the world that doesn't provide a box of tissues in the bathroom. Or a face cloth.

Room Tip: Bigger rooms better.

I spent MANY hours looking for the "right" hotel for our short 3 night visit to Helsinki. Location, good price and overall appearance is what matters most. This hotel has all 3! The room we were given was small in comparison to some I've seen online, but really, you don't spend that much time in the room. The bathroom had great counter space but a stupid sink. Stupid because it was up higher than a typical sink and it was also shallow so when you wash your hands or face, water sprays everywhere, including your clothes. Annoying. The hotel was clean, quiet & efficient. Breakfast was included and its a typical European spread - breads, cheeses, veggies, fruit, fish, beans, eggs, hot & cold cereal, and yogurt - something for everyone. If I were to visit Helsinki again, I'd stay here again.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view of the street, not the roof!

Glo Hotel is located just a few steps of nice museums, design shops, boutiques, good restaurants and cafes. The central market and the departure point of the ferries to Suomenlinna are just few blocks away walking down the Esplanade. The beds are very comfortable, the rooms are very quiet, the bathrooms well designed and quite spacious. Free wi-fi. The breakfast offers everything you could expect, lots of organic food, delicious. The hotel has a very nice bar/café where you can sit at the end of the day and watch the world pass by. Staff is very attentive and friendly. Taxis from and to the airport are quite affordable and sharp on time. Kluuvi street in front of the hotel is pretty much a pedestrian area but the taxis are allowed to drof you off in front of the hotel. Just around the block you will find some of the best design shops in Helsinki.

Room Tip: Rooms at a higher floor may have a more interesting view.

Hotel GLO Kluuvi is attached to the neighboring Hotel Kämp. In case you book a room with the hotel's spa access, it is actually the same shared spa facility with Kämp.

Rooms are very modern and comfortable. You are right in the middle of the city with all sights, shops and restaurants around the hotel. Railway station is about 5-10 min walk away.

Pleasant place to stay. Always a great place to stay. Great location and functional. Great breakfast and pleasant atmosphere. Restaurant is good. But a little pricey a staff could be a little more kind.
