“Excellent location, excellent service, excellent facilities”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 6, 2013

I booked this hotel on the strength of its TripAdvisor reviews and was not disappointed. The location is wonderful, off a lovely quiet street (almost a pedestrian mall) in the heart of Helsinki (which is much smaller than I expected, so everything is close.) If you weren't burdened with silly amounts of luggage, as we were, you could certainly walk comfortably from the station, although I would be careful with a suitcase on wheels, which would be difficult to drag on the cobbles. But a bakpack or cabin bag would be no problem.

The staff are fantastic. We arrived almost unable to walk with exhaustion after three nights in a curtainless room in St Petersburg in high summer, and mentioned this at check-in. The staff called a few minutes after we got into our rom to ensure that we were happy with the curtains, and offering to move us to an even darker room if necessary. Later, on check-out, a different staff member was particularly helpful in our arrangements for a taxi and a ferry.

The room was very spacious and the bed wonderfully comfortable. Shower was excellent, loads of pressure.

Breakfast was also excellent, with a very wide choice of wonderful foods; I had the whole Scandinavian catastrophe including some of the best hot-smoked salmon since Tasmania!

My only slight quibble was that some of the soft furnishing was a little tired. The carpet outside our door was stained, and a sofa in our room looked as if it had been burned by a cigarette (although there was no trace of cigarette smoke odour.)

We adored our first peek at Helsinki, and will certainly come back to this hotel again.

At the heart of the city this high-end hotel offers excellent service, very nice rooms with that little special touch that makes it all unique. Nice terrace to enjoy an evening drink or breakfast in the morning. Amazingly comfortable bed!

I spent a week in this hotel for a conference at the Finlandia, and it was just plain wonderful. My room was very spacious (I wasn't expecting that!), and decorated with understated modern design vibe. The sheets were very soft and the bed was comfortable. The only shortcoming to the room was that it had a view of the courtyard, which is to say no view at all - worth asking for a view when you make the reservation. I especially loved the bathroom, which had no bath but a large shower with a big shower head, excellent water pressure and temperature management. The bathroom was a bit dark for things like putting on make-up, I found.

The breakfast was delicious - smoked salmon, hearty bread and pastry, fresh fruit, well-prepared hot oatmeal, well-brewed coffee, served on Finnish Design plates and cutlery, with a large window looking out at the pedestrian street outside the hotel. A great way to start the day.

The hotel is in the heart of the mainstream shopping district (around the corner from Stockman, the big department store, H&M, etc. as well as the flagship stores for marimekko and littalla), and a 10-minute walk from the Helsinki Design District, filled with little boutiques of smaller designers. A tram stops 3 minutes from the front door, direct to all of the rest of the central attractions, museums, and such. The Esplanade Park ("Helsinki's Living Room") is at the end of the block, and the harbor is at the end of the Esplanade.

The staff all spoke perfect English, and were very friendly and competently helpful. I was in and out throughout the day, and NEVER had problems with housekeeping pestering me to clean my room when it wasn't good for me, nor a day when the room went unclean.

I can't imagine a better location or hotel experience.

Room Tip: Ask for a view, because the interior rooms have a gloomy view of the interior courtyard.

Very well located-walking distance to the market where local
Ferries depart to tourist island attractions. Quick access to all
local transport and major train station. Walking distance to local market
where you can catch the local ferries. If you like to shop then
all major shops are in the area. If you have a few days then
buy a Helsinki card which gives you free access to the Tram system,
major museum and a 90 minute bus tour-visit the "i" counter next to
the market across from the fountain for details.
The rooms are modern and very clean. The only downside
with the hotel
was that they were never able to get the room's TV to work.
Did I mention the breakfast? It's excellent.

It is very well located near many attractions and transportation. The Staff is very nice and helpfull. The rooms are spacious, modern and very comfortable. The breakfast is very good, and that includes some warm fresh bread. The Staff is very knowledgeable about the city and how to get around it, and I sure will respond to your questions very fast. By a more fast Internet connection for 1.99 euros a day; the free one is very slow.

This was the second hotel I stayed in, in Helsinki. My friend and I planned 2 nights in Helsinki (at another hotel), 1 night in Tallinn and then 1 final night in Helsinki. It was the final night that was booked in at GLO Kluuvi.

I liked everything about this fantastic property. The location was very central and convenient. The property itself was very stylish and comfortable. The service was very friendly and helpful. The bed was very comfortable. The view from the room was a pleasant outlook over the city centre streets below. The shower was excellent as were the shower gel and shampoo conveniently located in pump bottles in the shower.

Absolutely no complaints. Want to return! Next time will ensure time to try the spa, it must be first class too!
