“terrific hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 13, 2014

We thought this was a terrific hotel. The breakfast was great - the owner of another hotel in Turku later told us it was thought to be the best hotel breakfast in Finland and we can believe it. We also liked our room, the common rooms, the whole experience.

This is a review of the Passion Double Room. Booked in for one single weekend night in august 2014.

Was given a room on A2 level facing the main road. Rooms are very claustrophobic and probably more suited to one person. I could have payed more money to get a bigger room but I've always found standard double rooms in other hotels sufficient when I travel. Wardrobe space is very limited. Also there's a 1 inch gap under the shower glass which causes water to pool near the sink. There's no aircon which is pretty standard for Norway due to the cool weather however ventilation in the room was poor and we had to open the window. Now the issue with opening the window is the noise from the traffic and restaurants on the main road which includes a tram line. The double window acts as decent sound proofing when closed so you either have to put up with the stuffy room or the traffic noise. We asked if there was a quieter room and were given one facing what reception called an "inner courtyard" but which is really just a hollow shaft in the centre of the hotel. The windows are smaller in these rooms and even more stuffy but at least they were quiet ..... that is until the Friday night hotel disco started. It was thump thump thump from the heavy bass and it kept us awake until 4am. Initially I thought it was a nearby club so imagine my surprise when I went to inquire from reception when the club next door finishes and I realised it was the hotel club ! I mean how are guests supposed to sleep with this noise? Especially if you're a light sleeper and on the lower floors. We had an 11 hour overnight flight the next day so we really needed to sleep but no chance. We could have moved again I suppose but really didn't have the energy to shift our stuff to a third room. In fairness the hotel staff were very apologetic about the disturbance and compensated us part of the room charge. If we were on a higher floor and bigger room maybe our review would be better and maybe all the excellent reviews are for these rooms. So beware if you are a light sleeper get yourself a room on the 5th or 6th floor.

The hotel is a bit pretentious as another reviewer mentioned. Piped music, elevator graffiti, fancy key cards but our whole experience fell flat. Thankfully we had only booked one night. Also the area appears to be the pub/restaurant part of the town so the streets are busy and noisy over the weekends.

Room Tip: High floor if you are a light sleeper.

One of the nicest hotels I've been to in Finland. Staff welcoming and friendly, hotel stylish and fresh and the breakfast very good. Stayed in a Envy King room, spacious and comfartable. Location also very central in Helsinki. Booked directly through the hotels own web site.

I enjoyed my stay at the Klaus K Hotel. My friend and I were traveling and had arranged a transfer from the airport to the hotel. We were greeted on time by a professional gentleman in a suit holding a sign with my name. It was a private large van for the 2 of us. The trip was about 35 minutes, and cost was about $30. They also provided a transfer back to the airport for the same and we were able to bill to our room and pay credit card, so we did not have to worry about having their currency upon arrival.

The hotel is in the center of town close to a number of parks, green areas with ice cream stands, coffee cafes, and restaurants.

In 10 minutes you can be to the water front with larges churches, a large ferris wheel, and get a view of the harbor and boats.

The hotel front desk staff was super friendly and were very organized for our check-in. It was a very simple process. The front desk young ladies helped us with anything – answering questions on restaurants, where to go, and what to see.

The hotel has a very nice Italian restaurant attached to the hotel. There were a number of Helsinki dining there and seemed very popular.

We used the hotels bikes and rode and explored town. They had two bikes for use.

The hotel is modern and the lobby has a very nice open setting with really amazing fun innovative interior design. Our room has 2 beds on the 2nd floor. The elevator to the rooms is small and a bit tight.

The room had nice colors and we had a good view looking out onto the street. I did not notice really any noise and slept well. Although the beds were small, the sheets were nice, the mattress was very comfortable, not too stiff or hard. I expect small beds from a hotel in Europe, so was not surprised. The room and bathroom sparkling clean. It had new carpet and the room had a fresh smell. There was a flat screen TV, on the wall right opposite of the beds perfectly located.

They had one of the best breakfasts. There are two breakfast options. One was near the hotel reception with fresh meats, eggs, orange juice, bread, brownies, toast and many other options. Also you can have breakfast in the Italian restaurant. There you can order an omelets, and also has Italian meats, toast, jams.

I really like this hotel and would stay there again. I liked how clean and modern it was. The service and staff was excellent. I travel all over the world and this really is a nice change from most hotels in Europe and would recommend it to friends.

OK. Well of course that's not true. However we have been travelling to the fantastic city of Helsinki for various reasons for many years now and have never known the weather to be so consistently good.
So, what can Klaus K really guarantee?

Fantastic location for starters. Situated on Bulevardi right in the centre of the city. A gentle stroll gets you just about anywhere be it the shops, harbour or bus and railway stations.

The rooms (do vary in size - just ask when booking) are kept well cleaned and have everything you need for a comfortable stay.

The staff on the front desk are always friendly, accommodating and happy to help.

The hotel offers not one but two brilliant choices for breakfast. The first being a Nordic selection of fish, cheeses, meats , yoghurts , cereals and delicious breads.
The second choice is served in the Toscanini restaurant (and on the terrace if the weather is good) and offers a selection of Italian cold meats , cheeses and delicious breads. Gorgonzola for breakfast - whatever next ?!.Yummy all the same.

As regards price we find it just right given the standard and location.

Looking forward to a return visit soon. Definitely in December maybe sooner.

Recommended.

Room Tip: Some other reviewers have mentioned noise coming from the trams outside. That is true and inevitable...

It's really nice that you visited Helsinki during the exceptional heat period. Unfortunately Klaus K can not take any credit for that :)

They have always known how to live with details in Klaus K, but now they have taken everything to the new level. New Sky Lofts as they call them are really spacious, cool and well planned. I'm also proud to tell that this hotel is officially the first gay friendly hotel in Helsinki and got inspired by Kalevala, Finnish national epic. What does this inspiration mean? You can find it in many details there. And if you don't them know ask from their staff - probably you will get the friendliest service in Finland. Simply WOW!!

It is a European 5 star hotel. Everything to Your need and a nice rich breakfast. Staff is friendly and helpful, rooms are clean but some of the rooms have a poor view though. Quite pricy but located in the city center.

Room Tip: Ask about the view!
