“One week trip in Helsinki”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 8, 2013

Good hotel, nice lobby and friendly front desk. Little outside of city centre, but near harbour (going to Estonia for example). In Helsinki you can go everywhere by feet so not a big deal...
Good breakfast too, even though I don't like buffet.
While not exactly sea side - this hotel is facing the harbour and you get views of some of the cargo ships that are docked in - the experience was quite nice. The room was spacey and airy. The hotel It's near the line 9 stop so you can easily get there from the train station. Well connected through buses 102 and 103 to Aalto University. I recommend this hotel.

Its been 15 years since my last stay in a Radisson hotel but I remembered that was a pleasant experience so when I found this on a booking site for a reasonable price I jumped at it. We had some trouble finding it (more below) and weren't impressed because on check-in they wanted us to upgrade to a large room for another 15 euros which I declined. But after that everything went well. The room they gave us was comparatively small but very well presented, also spotless. It had a fridge, free and unusually fast Wi-Fi, every amenity you could ask for.

If you fly into Helsinki the cheapest and easiest way to get to this hotel is get the 615 airport bus (not the more expensive Finnair bus) to the train station where it terminates then get the nearby tram 6 which should accept your ticket for the 615 so cost per person is 4,50 euros. Tickets in Helsinki are valid for further transfer use for 80 minutes from when you start. We had read on the internet that tram 6 was detoured by construction but no one updated that advice to tell us that problems were solved three days before our arrival. You probably need to ask the tram driver to point out the Radisson Seaside because there are three R Blu hotels (although not on the tram 6 route).

The breakfast is so good they warn people that if they are caught taking food away it will cost them 20 euros. There are several kinds of fresh fish including salmon that I haven't seen in other sumptuous breakfast buffets. In addition to the breakfast room and adjacent kitchen there is a separate Italian theme restaurant within the hotel but expensive e.g. I doubt 2 people can eat even the simplest meal for less than 60 euros. But if you are budget-minded, there is a Subway only three blocks north of the hotel and many more less expensive restaurants and fast food outlets within walking distance. All you need is internet and the map the reception provides.

Many of the main tourist attractions are within 20-30 minutes walk and a tram ticket costs 2,80 euros and you can transfer free within 80 minutes. So although this hotel is not near the railway station at roughly the center of Helsinki we didn't find that to be a problem, in fact we walked everywhere we wanted to go. I don't plan to revisit Helsinki but I do plan to try Radisson again.

We stayed at the Radisson Blu Seaside in Helsinki and found the Hotel comfortable. Breakfast was more than adequate. Staff does serve the patrons and they were so friendly and helpful. Sauna was a nice experience. Location is good with regard to restaurants, flea market, and the port facility. You can take tram 9 which is just down the street to the shopping district. Staff at Hotel was professional and friendly. Use of bikes for three hours with rail trail across the street made exploring the city helpful. Tram 6 runs in front of the Hotel to Central Station where you can catch any bus or train to airport. Very reasonable. Rooms were not large but about the right size. They did not provide washcloths, but the other linens were adequate. Slippers were provided. Internet was slow but worked fine.

Room Tip: Street side can be noisy with road noises.

Stayed in this hotel for 3 nights. Its located a little outside of the Helsinki City center, but it takes just a short 10 to 15 minute walk to get to the city center. Another option is to take tram number 6. Arriving at the airport a comfortable and cheap way to travel to this hotel is to take the Finnair City Bus at the airport for about 6 euro a person. It brings you to the Helsinki Central Train station in about 30 minutes. Right in front of the train station you can hop on tram number 6. Just stay in it till its last stop (costs about 3 euro a person I believe) and you're right in front of this hotel. As a comparison: a taxi ride from the airport to this hotel costs about 43 euro.

The hotel itself is nothing special. The rooms are a bit awkward. Lots of concrete and a basic sober decoration. The toilet smelled a little bit and together with the shower it was a bit "old fashioned". The shower still had a hot and cold lever so the situation back from the old days where the water would suddenly go up or down in temperature while standing under it applies here. Pity.

The room was spacy though and had a nice desk and coffee/tea maker in it. Also available was a full sized ironing board and iron. The bed was comfortable. A really negative point to this room was that there was no air conditioning. There was only a real small part of the window that could be opened to let a slight breeze come into the room. I can imagine that when its warmer outside, this will not be sufficient anymore.

The room also had an insane lot of light switches. No idea which one was for which light, it didn't really make sense. They're also not all switchable from the bed, so it took for a short walk around the room to figure out which buttons all to push to switch the lights off.

The room was mostly clean (except for the funny smell in the toilet). Some stains on the couch and when carefully looking some small pieces of garbage in the corners of the room which were already there when I arrived and were still there when I left. Nothing really big though.

Internet access in the room was decent and pretty stable, even at nights.

The breakfast is included for all guests. This results in a huge crowded loud breakfast area. Breakfast was of decent quality though.

Staff was friendly and helpful.

Taxis are available right out in front of the hotel without having to call one first.

All in all quite okay, but for the same money I've seen better hotels. For example the Radisson Blu located right in the city center of Helsinki. That one is favorable over this one I would say.

I stay one night and was completed satisfy.
Upon my arrive the crew was very polite, helpful and give me detailed instruction. The room was small with 2 big beds, very clean, nice bathroom with all the relative facilities. I wake up late for breakfast but they give me individual service and everything was fresh and test full. The Hotel offer high speed internet with out charge.
I will visit again.
Thank you for your nice staff.

I would like to make a complaint about my stay in your hotel- Radisson Blue in Helsinki on 7 June.
I was strongly disappointed with the service.
I have always considered Radisson hotels of high quality ( I have been to many of them all over the world). To my disappointment this one did not meet my expectations
As you know the first impression is important- here I noticed dirty and stinky carpet in the corridor on my floor. It made me feel uncomfortable.
we took junior suite with sauna, souded good.
Than, in the room the safe did not work. The maintenance staff was not able to repair it. I would say, they did not try.
What is more, there was no power in two sockets.
But what made my stay in your hotel unpleasant was housemaid service.
The room was not cleaned just as it should be expected from a Radisson hotel network. The bed was made but carefully. The towels were changed but the maid forgot about the small ones.
A dirty cup was left on a bedside table and the magazines were lying on the floor.
Also the sauna was not checked as the towels were where we left them.
We were running out of toilet paper and it was not noticed as well.

It was my wife and mine 10 wedding anniversary and I feel strongly disappointed . I chose that hotel to celebrate but the stay here left a feeling of distaste. I will think twice before choosing Radisson once again

Dear user maciej k

Thank you for your valuable feedback and for your stay with us at Radisson Blu Seaside Hotel. I regret to hear about all the things that went wrong during your stay on your 10th wedding anniversary. We have discussed with the people involved and dealt with the issues to ensure that our service standard is always up to the level it should be. All our carpets in the hotel have also been cleaned during the last two weeks of June. I hope that you can accept my sincerest apologies for all the inconveniences you encountered. I have also sent you a separate email which a hope you will find the time to respond to.

Kind regards,

This was maybe 3rd or 4th time here. Good hotel, nice lobby and friendly front desk. Little outside of city centre, but near harbour(going to Estonia for example). Good breakfast too, but
only bad thing was actually really bad thing. It was really warm day and there wasn't air conditioning in the room and because one wall was all window, room was HOT.

Room Tip: Take a room with seaview
