“Good business hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 18, 2013

I stayed here for a couple of nights on business. I had a very functional room with a balcony overlooking the harbour. Bed was comfortable, bathroom on the small side all very clean. Helsinki is fairly small and I actually walked up to the centre for dinner in about 10-15 minutes. Breakfast was very good. I'd happily stay here again.

Stayed for the second time in this hotel, and I'm happy I did. We (three adults) stayed in one room - a family room with an extra bed. The room was spacey and airy. There was enough space for all our three suitcases. And thanks to the separate bathroom and WC, even during the 'morning rush-hour' the room room didn't feel crowded. Further the room was spotless. The reception staff was very helpful, and the breakfast sumptuous. And the tram that stops in front of the hotel took us in no time to the city centre. All in all, great value for money.

On arrival the staff were very efficient at completing check in even though we arrived after 11pm.
My son was made to feel special as it was his birthday the staff made a point of wishing him a happy birthday
The rooms were very comfortable generally the cleanliness was very good, comfortable beds extra pillows available if needed. We had a small verander from which we could see the harbour and beyond, and parts of the city.
Breakfasts are advertised as super by Radisson and indeed they were. My son and partner were impressed by the wide selection available as was I.
The hotel staff were very helpful and spoke excellent English, all queries were answered and maps of the city given as required, their local knowledge helped us a great deal.
Transport links to the city are excellent trams are frequent even into the early hours. We went to see Kiss at the Hartwall Areena we were able to catch the number 9 tram, which was 2 mins walk away from the hotel to near the Areena.
I would recommend this hotel there are several restaurants nearby Salve being one of the best.
The Viola restaurant at the hotel seemed very pricey we as a family are not keen on Italian food. In Helsinki we recommend Stones great food at reasonable prices, the street food at the South Harbour market and Salve.
We did not want to leave, the hotel became our second home. We will be returning for 2 weeks next year.

I picked this hotel because I got the best rate. I booked through Euro Booking and was denied Radisson points. We stayed 2 nights at the beginning and end of our Finland trip. The rate was about $160 for weekdays and about $98 on weekend. We got the same room both times leading us to believe booking through outside company caused us to get certain rooms. The hallways are narrow and we had about 6 steps to walk up to with our suitcases. It meant carry them up the steps. Most of the rooms did not have the steps. Breakfast was the best on our journey through Finland with many choices. The location isn't bad but needed to use public transportation which was easy to use as there is not much near the hotel. The bathroom has a threshold and caused us to stub our toes as we are not accustom to these. Rooms provide good free internet and shampoos, conditioners and shampoos.

Room Tip: We asked for a view room and were advised that was 10E more.

Stayed at this hotel for a weekend-trip in mid-may. The hotel is good - and the price even better! - but the location is not as central as you would wish for a short weekend get-away first time you're visiting Helsinki... The walk to the more central parts of the city takes about 15-20 minutes - which may not seem that much - but we found it a bit tiring. (When you walk from the main street you just go straight ahead on "Lönnrotsgatan" - it's easy to find and you just walk right on 'til it stops, there's the hotel - but it's actually a pretty grey and dull neighbourhood, so a better option is to choose the paralell street "Boulevarden", which is a bit more fancy and nicer.) (There are buses/trams as well, but they were under re-construction at the time for our visit.)

The rooms are pretty small, and there is no safe in the room! (Which was quite unexpected at a hotel of this standard.) The service at the check-in/check-out was good though, and the breakfast very good! A large variety of things to choose from - a rich continental buffet with both hot and cold items.

Overall a nice hotel, but I wish the location had been a slight bit better.

I visited this hotel for a conference and pretty much stayed in the building all day and night for 3 days. Reception was friendly, efficient and as I had requested a quiet room this was also delivered by assigning me to a room in the end of the hallway, facing back to the building.

All other facilities in the hotel are kept in good shape, but you can see the age clearly when you open the bathroom door. Bathroom in my room was okay-ish: functioning yes but broken tiles here and there, permanent stains in seams, clearly in need of renovation to be granted good rating. The room was fixed, furniture new or anyway in very good shape, so on that side no complaints at all. Office desk was cleverly separated away from the room/bed, which was a nice touch. Refrigerator in the room and tea/coffee making equipment are always a plus and make the stay comfortable as you can make the bedtime tea at your own schedule. Black-out curtains are okay, but a bit too short for efficiency - you need to push luggage or chair or something to hold the bottom tight to avoid light coming directly to the bed.

Breakfast was excellent - omelets made to order from kitchen, a lot of options to choose for any taste, and all presented nicely, high quality and wonderful taste. During the conference the same restaurant served lunch, and all the same praise goes to kitchen also on that: very tasty food, a lot of options, and especially great offering in the salad table, perfect!

Final note on the parking - hotel has a parking hall but it is hair-raising expensive (about 30eur for 24 hours) so if you are willing to search for city parking and walk back to the hotel, cheaper options are available. Just remember to ensure you have bought enough parking time to avoid being ticketed by traffic wardens.

Room Tip: Might be worth asking if room/bathroom has been renovated - don't know how much these vary.
