“Best rate for nice hotel in Helsinki”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 7, 2013

I picked this hotel because I got the best rate. I booked through Euro Booking and was denied Radisson points. We stayed 2 nights at the beginning and end of our Finland trip. The rate was about $160 for weekdays and about $98 on weekend. We got the same room both times leading us to believe booking through outside company caused us to get certain rooms. The hallways are narrow and we had about 6 steps to walk up to with our suitcases. It meant carry them up the steps. Most of the rooms did not have the steps. Breakfast was the best on our journey through Finland with many choices. The location isn't bad but needed to use public transportation which was easy to use as there is not much near the hotel. The bathroom has a threshold and caused us to stub our toes as we are not accustom to these. Rooms provide good free internet and shampoos, conditioners and shampoos.

Room Tip: We asked for a view room and were advised that was 10E more.

Stayed at this hotel for a weekend-trip in mid-may. The hotel is good - and the price even better! - but the location is not as central as you would wish for a short weekend get-away first time you're visiting Helsinki... The walk to the more central parts of the city takes about 15-20 minutes - which may not seem that much - but we found it a bit tiring. (When you walk from the main street you just go straight ahead on "Lönnrotsgatan" - it's easy to find and you just walk right on 'til it stops, there's the hotel - but it's actually a pretty grey and dull neighbourhood, so a better option is to choose the paralell street "Boulevarden", which is a bit more fancy and nicer.) (There are buses/trams as well, but they were under re-construction at the time for our visit.)

The rooms are pretty small, and there is no safe in the room! (Which was quite unexpected at a hotel of this standard.) The service at the check-in/check-out was good though, and the breakfast very good! A large variety of things to choose from - a rich continental buffet with both hot and cold items.

Overall a nice hotel, but I wish the location had been a slight bit better.

I visited this hotel for a conference and pretty much stayed in the building all day and night for 3 days. Reception was friendly, efficient and as I had requested a quiet room this was also delivered by assigning me to a room in the end of the hallway, facing back to the building.

All other facilities in the hotel are kept in good shape, but you can see the age clearly when you open the bathroom door. Bathroom in my room was okay-ish: functioning yes but broken tiles here and there, permanent stains in seams, clearly in need of renovation to be granted good rating. The room was fixed, furniture new or anyway in very good shape, so on that side no complaints at all. Office desk was cleverly separated away from the room/bed, which was a nice touch. Refrigerator in the room and tea/coffee making equipment are always a plus and make the stay comfortable as you can make the bedtime tea at your own schedule. Black-out curtains are okay, but a bit too short for efficiency - you need to push luggage or chair or something to hold the bottom tight to avoid light coming directly to the bed.

Breakfast was excellent - omelets made to order from kitchen, a lot of options to choose for any taste, and all presented nicely, high quality and wonderful taste. During the conference the same restaurant served lunch, and all the same praise goes to kitchen also on that: very tasty food, a lot of options, and especially great offering in the salad table, perfect!

Final note on the parking - hotel has a parking hall but it is hair-raising expensive (about 30eur for 24 hours) so if you are willing to search for city parking and walk back to the hotel, cheaper options are available. Just remember to ensure you have bought enough parking time to avoid being ticketed by traffic wardens.

Room Tip: Might be worth asking if room/bathroom has been renovated - don't know how much these vary.

This is Europe, folks, so be prepared for European-sized rooms. All the amenities were there, including a fantastic breakfast each morning in the spacious downstairs dining room. Hot, cold, yogurt, meats, fish, cheese, jams, breads. Ymmm. The hotel rooms were clean and comfortable, and a good bargain for the price. But since we didn't spend much time in our rooms, it's worth noting that this hotel is on the #6 (I believe) tramway. This Helsinki tram system is fantastic, and can take you all over the city, including much of the "old town" for a bargain price. The Radisson Blu Seaside also sits on the northeast side of a harbor, so you can stroll seaside, day or night, just a few steps from the front door. The TripAdvisor walking tour app for my smartphone was also very helpful as we found numerous great restaurants within 5-minute walk of the Radisson Blu Seaside. Every major historical or architectural site in Helsinki is accessible via tram, which is so convenient to the hotel. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: There are no rooms on the "ground" floor, so every room is on floors 2-6. The roadway out...

Radisson hotels are normally my first choice in europe.

Seaside has not exactly come upto normal expectations, it lacks the sharp edge of other Radissons.

Despite a "do not disturb" sign on my door i was invaded by housekeeping 3 times without knocking. No thank you!

Breakfast just cuts the usual standard of Rad but overall a decent product.

Stayed here just one night and the hotel is more than suitable for shorter business trips. But, even though the reception area is quite new and stylish, the rest of the hotel looks quite old and worn down. And even in the refurbished rooms, you can see where they have saved some money, keeping the old tub and parts of the old tiles etc.

But the staff was very friendly, the hotel is quite centrally located and taxis was easily available outside. Breakfast was also quite good, With a solid buffet and many options.

Room Tip: ask for a room in the newest section
