My boyfriend and I came here for an early dinner during the week. As soon as we arrived we were warmly greeted and given a table, the hostess was excellent at her job informing us we could have the table for two hours because of bookings, and that she hoped we weren’t in a rush because the food doesn’t come out fast. No problem we said! This kind of information is really appreciated as a customer.
I ordered a very tasty passion fruit cocktail, and my boyfriend had some kind of spicy beer drink – also very tasty. The starter of guacamole and homemade chips was DELICIOUS! It was definitely worth the price. However the mains were a huge let down. Although the presentation gets a big thumbs up, the taste was a big let down - quite bland and simply lacked depth. My boyfriend’s enchiladas were drowning in cheese and my Mexican beans were just lacking flavour. The beans and rice were also quite watery. Maybe the flavour would have been enhanced had we had a few sauces/dips on the side e.g. salsa, extra guacamole, or sour cream
The mains were 25 Euros each – pretty expensive considering the ingredients to make these dishes doesn’t cost an arm and a leg. I’ve eaten better Mexican beans and rice from hole in the wall places, so splashing out at a higher-end Mexican place, I was expecting some new flavours.
Pros: Atmosphere was great. Interior was very cosy. Service was exceptional. Drinks and starters were delicious. They have one vegetarian main on the menu and will also make two of the other dishes vegetarian too. Presentation was nice.
Cons: SERIOUSLY over-priced for what it is. Main dishes needs more flavour. Not sure why I waited thirty minutes for beans when they hardly had any flavour infused in them.
