“Very interesting museum”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 30, 2014

The Mannerheim Museum is the former home of a man with high influence on Finnish history. What impressed us was the design and atmosphere of the rooms more than displays. The very best was the timeless working room or library. As we walked through the rooms we were given a great introduction to Finnish history. Thanks a lot to our Swedish speaking conservator!

“Intriguing”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 16, 2014

Check opening times - certain hours, weekends only. Well worth a visit to see where and how Mannerheim, President and Marshal of Finland lived. Apparently no detail of the interior was too small for him. This remarkable man served in the Czar's army for 30 years until the revolution. He was decorated by both sides in both World Wars. You will come away understanding much more about the history of Finland and its neighbor. Excellent personal tour in English.

“One of the most interesting museums in Helsinki”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2014

If you are interested in Finnish history, specially regarding the independence, I highly recommend visiting the Mannerheim museum in Kaivopuisto.

Please check visiting times and call ahead to make sure you fit in to one of their tours. The guides are excellent and tours are offered in various languages.

“We were enthralled”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 13, 2014

My 11 year old daughter who usually gets bored on the very principle of visting a museum, was enthralled from the minute she stepped through the entrance. The most amazing tale of a man's lifetime is supported by personal items and props that get more and more bizarre as you move through the rooms. Reading up on Mannerheim's life, e.g. on Wikipedia, is recommended -- also as antidote to the museum guides' almost reverent idolisation.
