Actually, for the first time in my life I think that hotel was almost-perfect! The room was very clean and comfortable, breakfast was really tasty - believe me, you will have an urge to try a piece of everything!

Important to choose the white Finnair bus from the airport, and not the local bus, if you want to be dropped close to the hotel. Bedrooms very spacious, modern and clean. Modern bathroom fittings where everything worked. Wi-Fi also worked well. Close to main road but no traffic noise. Very good choice for breakfast. Although breakfast doesn't start until 06.30, the hotel has very thoughtfully arranged a small breakfast selection to be available in the bar each morning from 05.30 for people like us who need to catch an early flight. There's a very pleasant walk (or jog, if so inclined)around Toololahti lake across the road from the hotel. Would definitely stay there again.

Room Tip: Try to get a front room with a view of the lake.

Good breakfast (quality and variety). The bus to the airport stops in front of the hotel. Free wifi. Sauna and swimming pool indoor. Few minutes walking to the city centre. I missed a kettle in the room.

The hotel is very nice, newly renovated, rooms are big and comfortable, very good equipped. Food and service is excellent. Location is very nice nice besides a lake and a big park. The only negative with our stay was the staff during a fire alarm. We evacuated the room and got out, but there were no staff to inform us what was happening, we had to wait for a long time outside before the situation was cleared, it showed to be a false alarm.

Room Tip: Very long corridors, choose a room close to elevators.

Don't be put off by the old and grey exterior, the inside of the hotel has been fully renovated.

I stayed the weekend in a economy room which was perfectly suitable for one person - lovely decoration, clean, plenty room to hang your clothes, decent hairdryer and nice toiletries. There was also a USB point in the room which was really handy as I had forgotten to take an adaptor with me. TV had both local and international channels available. You also get a nice view from the higher floors.

The breakfast was more than decent for a buffet - plenty of choice. The restaurant was very busy though - strangely enough most guests seemed to eat quite early on Sunday morning.

I believe the hotel had a gym but there's big parks on both sides of the hotel if you fancy a run or a walk. There's sauna and pool, but these were quite busy during my stay, so didn't use.

The nearest tram stop (three different lines) in front of the hotel and it's about 15 minute walk to 'central' Helsinki.

I would recommend joining the Scandic loyalty scheme which gives you 6e voucher per night to be used at the hotel, 20% discount on all food and some other immediate benefits.

We stayed here for a weekend. This is a very large hotel, I think the largest in Finland with more than 500 rooms. Its located close to the Opera, not far from the Olympis stadium and there is a stop for the airport coach nearby. However its a 15 minutes walk or a few stops with the tram to the city. There are some pretty good restaurants in the neighbourhood but besides that not much to see. The hotel building in itself is pretty ugly in concrete. The interiors however are very nice and most of the hotel has been resently refurbished. We had a superior room that sadly wasnt renovated so it looked a bit dated. There was a safe, a mini bar, free wifi, a television with some international channels. Bathroom was large with a shower and a bathtub. plenty of room for your bathroom stuff. Large room as well and good beds. There was some annoying noice from the Air Cond and the room was also a bit too cold due to the air cond. Besides that it is quiet and you dont hear other rooms or the traffic. Breakfast was a buffet served on the ground floor. Since it is a large hotel it gets very crowded at times. The buffet had all the basic stuff nothing special. I wish they would have had better juice. The staff manages to keep the breakfast room clean despite the large amount of guests. The hotel also has a bar at the lounge. Expensive but a nice place to relax. So hade we stayed in a renovated room then my grading would have been higher. Still good value for the money and rooms are large and quiet.
