“Clean and comfortable for a short stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 31, 2014

I stayed in this hotel for one night in March 2013. The room had been renovated recently and it was still fresh and clean. As I needed the room basically just for one night’s sleep and a breakfast, it was totally adequate for this purpose. Also the location was fine. There was a free WiFi which worked just fine for me (for checking the emails). The bed was comfortable but the room was smallish and a bit crammed. The breakfast comprised the basic hot and cold items and was nothing fancy but, again, quite adequate. One thing annoyed me a bit: the hotel sent a text message reminding me about the possibility to check out (next morning) on my mobile phone or online. I had already fallen asleep when the text message signal woke me up…

We stayed at the hotel while they were reconstructing parts of it, we got a discounted price so fair enough. However, we stayed in the 'new' part of the hotel and here are some observations.
1. The shower door has a seal but it does not touch the floor so every time two people have a shower one after another the bathroom resembles a lake. I know Finns like their lakes but it baffles me why they would want to recreate one in their bathrooms.
2. The rooms is renovated and it has a nice, modern design. Again, however, just as with the bathroom, design seems to trump functionality. There are no shelves in the room so if you are staying for longer than a couple of nights the excitement of living out of your suitcase may grow old (oh, wait you DoN'T like living our of your suitcase?).
3. The AC unit did not work properly. When we went to the reception to complain, they asked where we were staying and then said, exchanging knowing looks - oh yes, the 'new' part. Seems like there are a few teething problems with the renovated part of the hotel.
4. Overall if you don't mind being woken up by hammering at 7am and all the other things above, given the discount it's not a bad value for money and breakfast is good.

Booked for price, normal scandic quality and mostly for pool due to my husband ongoing back problems, when we arrived and went looking for the pool was advised it was closed due to ongoing renovations, we had water turned of at one stage and our card access cancelled as well during our 4 days there. Builders in and around the building banging and crashing as they do. Gym facilities excellent but weekend hours limited. Staff friendly and helpful going out their way to ensure we could get late check out, parking fees pricey, breakfast options great and restaurant staff lovely and always smiling like the cleaner, nice hotel and renovated room very comfortable, but wouldn't stayed if had known pool unavailable, overall good value for money

I like the newly renovated room..not too big but neat, clean n easy to use. location is a bit far away from city centre but if you are not in rush..you can easily walk to the city centre. tram and bus stations are just about 50m away from the hotel n there is a nice hiddeb park with a small lake to explore...especially now, in the summer months. Breakfast was good and the staff at reception counter was helpful even at late hours, still willing to explain some tourist attractions to me. wifi is free n very good too. overall, it is a nice place unless u do not like to walk..

Despite some rooms still being renovated and the outside area of the hotel was a mess, everything inside turned out to be first class. We stayed in a roomy and recently refurbished 7th floor superior extra room. The extra bed for our child was full size and comfortable. The bathroom was also roomy with a lot of counter space. The hotel was fully booked during our stay, but still the staff managed to work efficiently and kindly both at the reception and breakfast buffet. The only downside was a lack of storage space (cabinets, shelves) in the room.

Big, luxuruous hotel, which is currently being renovated. This doesn't cause any discomfort, as the works will begin after 9:00 am. The breakfast buffet is absolutely great. The hotel is a 20 minutes walk from the center. Good deal. Direct connection with Finnair shuttle bus to the AirPort: it stops riight in front of the hotel.

Went there with the whole extended family (we had 3 rooms on the 6th floor for 4 nights) to attend a wedding in helsinki. The hotel is a walk from city centre so you need to take the tram if you want to go there (nearby not many restaurants, shops etc). Quet hotel with mostly families so no disturbing sounds from for example reatsurants/clubs etc. Especially 6th floor very quiet.
The hotel is undergoing renovation wich didn't disturb us on the weekend at all. But chaos (=lots of people and kids) in the breakfast area especially after 9!
The new style is ugly. All "trendy grey" (=really depressing, NOT chic) and some cheap-looking industrial feeling that doesn't look like it's going to last for more than a few years before it's really OLD.

The room felt like there was more emphasis on what it LOOKED like than on actual comfort. No wardrobe to put your clothes in (!!!), I had to keep the whole family's clothes in our suitcases for 5 days! There is only a clothes rack in the room at it looks messy all the time. The lights light up the room as if it was a store window and there is a large mirror/ironing station that takes up a lot of space in the room. There's no workspace/desk only a lot of small round tables.
This is not suitable for a family of 2 adults and 2 small children (ages 3 and 5). The rooms are too small and not functional at all. Choose scandic Marski instead with big, nice "old fashioned but functional" rooms!
