“Simple and comfortable hotel for a short stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 7, 2014

I only needed a hotel room for a few hours before leaving Helsinki and since I was travelling by myself I chose an inexpensive option in the overall expensive Scandinavian city. Hotel's reception is only open till midnight, so they provided me codes for the front door, since I was arriving after midnight. My key card was waiting for me at the reception desk. Organic tea at the reception is a nice touch. The room itself was very small with single bed and the tiniest bathroom I have ever seen, but was okay for a tired solo traveller just for 1 night.
Bed was clean and comfortable, so was the rest of the room. You can open the window to get some fresh air. Breakfast is not included, but can be purchased at extra cost. I wouldn't be staying here over the longer period, but for one night it was absolutely perfect. Recommend without hesitation.

If you are looking at staying in the city centre, it doesn't get more central then this. The central railway station, bus station and big malls are all walking distance. Its a non-nonsense kind of place to stay. Here are the pros & cons

+Positives
-Close to all means of public transportation.
-Lots of restaurants & bars in close proximity.
-Malls & Supermarkets for shopping close by.
-Close to the design district & other attractions
-Clean rooms & friendly staff
-Elevator to rooms floors

-Negatives
-No air-conditioning or fans in the rooms. In the summer can get a little stuffy.
-If you open the windows, the street below is a noisy.
-Rooms not too large.

Room Tip: Choose rooms not facing the street. They should be quieter.

Staff is very friendly and helpful. Room is not very big, but I was the only one so it was quite okay. Beds are, in fact, more comfortable than in most hotels I've visited in my life. In summer it's noisy on the street so only asking for quiet room helps. I liked a lot the approach to cleaning - room is subject of cleaning ONLY by request, I found that idea very eco-friendly.
The only one negative experience was the smell in the bathroom, probably due to a shower curtain. I hope they'll do something about it.

Room Tip: Always ask for 'quiet' room.

From the friendly reception staff to the ideal location, this hotel suited our budget. The room was small but it catered for our needs, we loved the quirky lift & recycled room decorations. There was a downside though it was a warm day and the room had no air conditioning a simple fan would have been enough.

We enjoyed our stay at Finn starting from the early check-in (thank you, Lauri), a nice room on the 5th floor, free high-quality pot-made tea. The girl at the reception was very friendly and offered practical advice about the restaurant for the late-night meal . The discounted breakfast at the next door restaurant Kiila was good, too. We also had lunch there on the following day.The hotel is very central, close to the bus and tram lines to take you to other parts of the city.Traffic can be quite noisy at times. The interior of the room is quite minimalistic, but has a modern designer touch and beds were comfortable. A small lift was fun, but quite efficient!

This hotel is located in a wonderful part of town. Lots of action, with shops, sightseeing places, restaurants, bar, train station near by. The huge problem though is two-fold, NO air conditioning available and major partying noise from the street ALL night long. The town does not sleep. We used ear plugs to shelter the noise but this did not help. Maybe if we could have closed our window but our room was HOT.

Great price but with a cost.

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the street noise.

This hotel is centrally located in Helsinki, and the price was definitely right for my wife and I. The room was stylish, youthful, but small: just big enough for two single beds with a little space between them. There was no closet, desk or chair. The washroom is also small but modern. That said, the floor of the shower should have been slightly lower, or, perhaps, sloped towards the drain because the water got everywhere and almost out the bathroom door. A squeegee would've been appreciated in order to dry things up faster and keep it all clean. There was some street noise that came in through the 6th floor windows, but there's not much that can be done about that.

Dear academia_nut,
Thank you for your review.

We have recently divided our twin rooms into two different categories. This allows our guests to choose between cheaper and a bit smaller and bigger and a bit more expensive rooms according to their wishes. Bigger ones do have a closet, a desk and a chair, for example.

A squeegee is a very good idea, thank you! We’ll go and get those right away.

Best regards,
Lauri / Hotel Finn
