“Thoughtful staff in the [warm]heart of Helsinki”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

The staff are so considerate, friendly and approachable, after my first day it already felt like home, I didn't want to leave. The kitchen is great and makes for a good place to socialize with other guests. Respectfully, staff ask for near enough silence after 10pm... But the city of Helsinki is more than welcome to take any party-goers. Had a fresh clean room with a lovely soft pillow on my bed to return to, and lay my head after exploring the wonders of Helsinki. You can store your bag in reception for extra security if desired, though I became comfortable enough to put my faith in my surroundings. There's also a pleasant balcony for any smokers. I will definitely be returning in the future!

There are some great views to be seen in Helsinki. I recommend Kaivopuisto, especially at sunset. And Hesperianpuisto for a view across some of the city. The Sibelius Monument I found to be breathtaking... which by the way has a cafe, 'Regatta', just by the water nearby which has considerably cheap hot drinks with an incredible atmosphere worth checking out. Go by foot and enjoy the stroll (..and the zero expenses spared!)

Finland may be cold in temperature, but has inhabitants ever so warm.

Hostel Erottajanpuisto was perfect for what I was looking for. I had a overnight layover in Helsinki and wanted something cheap in the center of the city so I could check out the bars and do some sight-seeing in the morning before flying home. The check-in process was very easy even at 3:00am. The wi-fi and showers worked well. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The toilet/bathrooms are small, but not a big deal. I would recommend this hostel and I would stay here again!

I stayed there with my wife for a couple nights, and then left for some days to return for a final night later. I was able to leave my heaviest luggage there while I was travelling.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. They lent us some umbrellas for a rainy day and overall gave us useful information and tips.

The hostel is really nice and well prepared for travellers, with everything you need and a cheerful atmosphere. It is not particularly pretty, but it is very clean. The price is excellent for Helsinki, which is a very expensive city.

The stairs from the door to the hostel proper, a couple stories away, are a killer, do not carry heavy luggage!

pretty building with old features. huge kitchen and tiny toilets (though this seems to be a helsinki wide phenomenon).

generally quiet, though the beds make a lot of noise.

clean and comfortable, good location.

Great location, really nice, spacious and well equipped kitchen with a lovely green tile stove, capacious fridge with 'free food shelf', lounge in the corridor with an access to the computer, our double bedroom no. 4 was of a good size with a sink, wardrobe, tv and an armchair, staff always at hand to help you out, the reception is 24 hours, to be honest I did not notice any noises form the outside as other traveller wrote, we had a good night sleep and a nice stay there.

Comfortable, clean, centrally located, friendly staff, nice kitchen. Excellent choice for budget accommodation. Not a partying loud hostel.

Great neighbourhood for restaurants, bars and cafes. 8 minutes walk to Kaupatori Market.

I stayed with friends for 1 night in this hostel in Helsinki in a triple room. The shower and toilet were shared. The hostel is centrally located in Helsinki and a quick walk to all the interesting sights in town. It's a 3rd floor walk up and one of the smaller sized hostels I've been to, with only about 15 guest rooms. The common area is very comfortable and there is always someone at the reception desk. Their website mentioned that there was breakfast available for purchase, but when we were there, they said that they don't offer breakfast.
