“Great Helsinki Place to Stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 28, 2014

We stayed in City Apartments June 2014 for 4 nights. It was me, my husband and our 2 boys (9 and 12). We were touring Nordic countries for 2 weeks on a family vacation. We got the "Tower Suite" that has a main living floor and a bedroom suite up a spiral staircase. It came with a modern kitchen and included a sauna which was a fun extra. In the bedroom suite there's a German style bed (2 beds put together) that sleeps 2 and a pull out couch that can sleep 2 more. We ended up taking the bedding and mattress pads from the pull out and put them downstairs for the boys to sleep on. It was a bit campy but the boys made comfortable beds on the couches/floor and slept well.

The apartment was well stocked, very clean and there was a lot of space. We liked being able to do a quick breakfast in the apartment and were also able to bring in some basic dinners to have in the apartment. That was a nice break from eating out all the time and saved a bit of $. Also the pricing for the suite was a good deal compared to getting something like 2 adjoining rooms for the 4 of us in a hotel.

The location is AWESOME, very close to the train station, the Cathedrals, the Market Square and Esplande. In short all of the areas tourists are likely to want to visit in Helsinki. Several restaurants and supermarkets in easy walking distance. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. They even have tourist brochures and maps.

Overall we thought this worked well for us and would recommend it for a family stay in Helsinki.

I recently stayed at City Apartments for 6 days whilst visiting my daughter who was studying in Helsinki. On arrival I had been upgraded to the Tower Suite which was absolutely fabulous. It had everything I needed for a comfortable stay even a sauna! The apartments were within walking distance of the train/bus station and the trams. A supermarket was across the road and the main shopping area was very close.I would definitely stay there again

In Helsinki was already no less than 7 times, but the experience of living in the apartment for the first time. Before that I lived in different hotels Scandic, Cumulus, Hotel Arthur, Serahuone, Sokos City Centre etc. I want to note that when a business visit, this is a great option, and if it's a family holiday, then this is the best option, including those with small children. My flight was after the closure of the office, so I take the receipt of the keys at the Central railway station. The stairs down and showing a passport, I got my keys, five minutes walk and I by the door. For the landmark hotel Arthur is located close by. Three keys: one from the common entrance door, one of the Elevator, one of the apartments. The room was very clean and prepared to move. Kettle, iron, microwave, refrigerator, toaster, dishes, spoons, knives, forks, wash dishes, dishwasher, washing machine, sauna with shower, high speed Internet. In General all very much and next time I will consider it in the first place.

We stayed 8 nights at City Apartments in May and were pleased with the lay out, the cleanliness, and the central location of the place. One can easily walk anywhere.
Our one bedroom apartment came with a sauna and we took the habit of using it every evening, wishing now that we had one at home.
They have double windows and double doors, the place is quiet and warm.
The bathroom is large and very clean, with heated towel rack ( we should raise a statue to the inventor of heated towel rack ), we used the washing machine but it took us a while to know how as we were not familiar with the european symbols on it.
The manager is friendly, discreet, and efficient
We cooked every evening. There is a supermarket across the street, but we preferred walking to Stockmann by the esplanade and shop in their great food department for fish ( very good salmon selection ) and charcuterie ( we tried the moose and the reindeer. . .).
A good wine shop in Stockmann as well.

As we landed late, they had arranged for us to pick up the keys at the airport.
We took the Finnair bus to town and arrived at the train station's bus stop at 11:30PM.
Walking to the apartment from there with our suitcases was easy and fast, maybe 10 minutes, and we felt pretty safe on the way.
The tramway stops downstairs and #9 will take you directly to the west ferry terminal for Tallink boat to Tallinn, Estonia.

We experienced a wonderful short trip over Easter 2014. We chose City Apartments because they promised an excellent location within Helsinki, combined with quietness, space, luxury, in brief: everything an appartment should provide. We were not disappointed! The title says it all.

Room Tip: try to get the rooms toward the inner part
