What can I say that hasn't ready been said! Karrie is an amazingly enthusiastic man, who loves his city and people! From the moment I booked a tour with him, we got prompt professional responses.
We actually walked from the cruise port (wow, how beautiful). Get a proper map from the tourist info place on the pier and walk into town if you can. I think Helsinki must be one of the worlds most beautiful piers! The walk into town along the shoreline (4k, but there are 2 other shorter routes) reminded me of Vancouver. We were really for some exercise after a week on a cruise ship!
Unfortunately it started raining when we arrived. Our 12 year old wanted to bail, but we thought lets go for it we were already wet!
Best decision ever! We found Bicyclean with no problem (the tourist info site on the main street across from the market knows where it is as well, there is an ATM near the market as well). Karri promptly greeted us and was willing to wait for the rain to subside, but we decided to forge ahead. We had an absolute blast, even in the rain with our plastic ponchos billowing out, Hilarious!
Karris tour on peddle bikes was a hoot. We saw so much more than you would on a tour bus or walking on your own. Karri was constantly descibing areas, giving history old and new. We liked that he spoke of modern times as well. He answered all our questions and didn't mind that we stopped at a couple geocaches along the way.
What a beautiful place. Helsinki was one of our favorite places on our Baltic cruise thanks to Karrie's tour. We really felt like we got to see the real Helsinki, not just the tourist sights.Who would think we would have such a blast in the pouring rain!
We also stopped for a snack of cake and coffee/tea/juice at a little cafe along the way with old buildings and a garden. This was included in the price of the tour. I thought the included snack was going to be a bag of pretzels handed out with a bottle of water, boy was I wrong!
Karrie even gave my husband his last T-shirt (great logo by the way). My husband currently wears his t-shirt proudly and tells everyone what a great place Helsinki is. I would highly recommend making more T-shirts for your customers, they would make great souvenirs! We would have bought several!
We will be back! Thanks Karrie!
