“Hilton Strand, hotel with a great view.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 5, 2014

This is a great building facing one of the sea inlets which Helsinki is famous for towards the E75 bridge and islands off the coast. There is plenty of action with all types of boats and the new sport - standing on a flat board with one paddle! Quite amusing seeing the reactions of some when a power boat appears to be coming too close. It may be a little tired in parts but it is still a great hotel and I was told work on upgrading it will start shortly. We found a water leek in our bathroom, a technician considered it serious enough to close the room, we were thanked, moved to a suite with balcony and given access to the Privilege Lounge on the 7th floor.
The hotel is ideally situated, it is only a short walk to central Helsinki and to the Cathedral and Esplanades. Breakfast is excellen and the staff very pleasant.

Room Tip: Ask for a sea facing room preferably above the 4th floor although that floor is still good.

The location is quite nice with wonderfully peaceful views of the Helsinki rivers, inlets, etc. The accommodations are pleasant enough and the heated floors of the bathroom would probably be quite nice in the cold winters.

The executive lounge had quite a nice selection of food and beverages and the attendant was awesome! (I forget her name, but know that it started with an A)

The hotel was starting to shows its age and while nothing was broken or extremely wrong, it just didn't seem to be that modern or new feeling. But thats the only big thing I could potentially find fault with.

An older hotel, but friendly staff, large rooms and a good lounge. We had 2 rooms for 4 days, but had to change plans at the last minute and stayed for 2 nights and the hotel were very helpful.

Breakfast was good. there was a smell in reception on the last day, a sulphur smell but not too bad, would stay again.

Overall a good stay

Room Tip: High floor and exec room for free wifi and lounge

It is terrible when check-in procedure takes 15 minutes. You have an employee with surname Vikman (girl with blonde hair) , who is rude, inefficient and unfriendly. It is a shame for such hotel to have such employees, who stand without smile and talk without willingness to help. Is it hospitable service? Hilton have not had such bad service ever before. As to the hotel it is rather old but still good. Not clean enough and need renovation. In the lobby there is unpleasant smell. You should better not to take the cheapest room as it will be the worst that they have.

A pleasant, comfortable hotel. The staff are very polite and helpful. The breakfast is good and plentiful with variety. The only cons are the price and the fact that they charge for wifi in your room, at this price you would expect to have wifi included. They also need more bikes as this was mentioned in the advert, but there were none available when I asked for one and it was one of the factors in my choice of hotel.

First off the hotel is a bit dated and it shows in the room. But don't let that fool you, it is a excellent hilton hotel. The staff is attentive and efficient both at check in and check out. The room was outlooking the river and the view is stunning! Even the room feels a bit dated, it has all things needed.
Breakfast is excellent and the hotel has a complimentary business center with computer and printer which is a plus. We used the printer to buy ferry ticket.
The hotel is not in the city center (which is train station and southward to the harbour), but easy reachable with several tram lines and metro. It is 3 tram stops from the train station, so it is no problem.

Room Tip: Choose a room outlooking the river. High floor as possible

We had a great experience at this hotel. The facilities are beautiful, and our room was great. The breakfast was incredible. Lots of choices and it also overlooks the water. Also, the location of the hotel is fantastic. We were able to walk everywhere from the hotel. It is also on the water, so the views are great. We are Hilton Gold members, and we had access to the Executive Lounge. That was an incredible bonus. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone who is going to Helsinki.
