The Torni offers just about everything one can ask for in an urban hotel. Short walk to great shopping and restaurants. It has an historic entrance and lobby area, yet the rooms have been beautifully and tastefully refurbished in contemporary style, right down to the plasma flat-screen TV. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. Quiet, peaceful room despite the central location (but then again I guess Helsinki in December isn't exactly New Orleans during Mardi Gras).

Really a pleasant surprise, will defitinely stay here again next time in Helsinki. Give it a try!

Well worth small extra cost to upgrade to a superior room or junior suite. Rooms with very modern decor, and LCD screens abound. Only thing which could be improved are the very small bathrooms (even in superior and suites). Irish pub has a great atmosphere, so no need to go out in the cold in winter. Great position for Stockmann and city center. Recommendable hotel.

Having read the previous review of this hotel on the site I was rather apprehensive, From the outside it seems nothing special but inside it is undergoing total renovation.

I was however pleasantly surprised.

Room was comfortable and well equipped - huge double bed, air conditioning, safe, tv, ironing board and iron (a nice touch for the crumpled business traveller), mini bar and phone, plus usual en-suite bathroom equipment.

Breakfast room is large with good range on offer although the hot food is not quite as good as the cold food.

Upstairs (12th floor) bar with roof terrace is small but friendly and offers good views over the city.

Only downside is the lifts are small and you may have to wait a while.

All in all it seems very good and should be excellent once renovation is completed.
